Default setup for snaps

when i snap my 2.6 compy yak, i get more of a barrel roll rather than an axial snap.. with multiple snaps it drifts off line. i only have enough rudder throw to maintain knife edge at full throttle so im thinking maybe too much elevator??

I was lost setting up my 2.6 yak for snaps also. It would go around twice before i could get it stopped! At the last IMAC event one of the unlimited pilots flew it and dialed it in for me. I had too much rudder and not enough elevator, 12 degrees elevator. Now im at about 20 degrees elevator and roughly 25 degrees rudder and it snaps and stops on a dime. That was worth the IMAC event fee for me alone... I still cant fly for **** tho....Gene

With your rudder throw and no more than about 12-13° ele try increasing your aileron throw little bit at a time untill your snap roll starts to look the way you want.

On ele use, hit the ele and when starting into the snap relax the ele to neutral. So the ele is like a bump not so much a hold .

If it's barreling it probably needs more aileron, too. Slow snaps tend to score low anyway. I keep between 30 and 35 degrees of aileron regardless of the plane.

Yeah... the SX does best if you get off the elevator once the rotation is going... otherwise it just gets way too deep into it.... If it is still slow.... try going to negative (From UP to Down in a pos snap, from Down to Up in an outside/neg snap)elevator once the snap is developed.... apparently some of the full size Pitts drivers try something like this to speed up the snap and not kill energy...

Lots of aileron
Moderate rudder
Very little elevator
