Hey guys...
What do you think will be a more stable IMAC platform (Basic/Sportsman)- A new generation 30% plane like the new AJ Slick or maybe EF Extra-300 or A 33% plane like the TOC/SD Yak-54 or AW, H9 planes. I would appreciate replies from pilots who have actually flown the 2 classes of planes or maybe even competed. Freestyle/3D performance is not a criteria here. I have other stuff for that ![]() I had flown the older EF Yak-54 87" for a couple of contests and it used to get blown quite a bit. I wonder if all 50cc planes do. Don't want to step up to either a 35% or 40%. Thanks.

I've flown a few 30% planes. But I currently fly a H9 Extra330L 33% (97" WS)
It's been my experience that the bigger I go the better they fly, as long as it is a quality plane. I prefer flying the H9 over the others. Better in the wind, and I can fly it more smoothly. But I had an 80" Extra from Airborne Models that flew better than some 30%ers. It was heavy with a 3W50i on the business end, but dayum that plane flew a sequence well. These questions are never exact science, so you'll get a lot of conflicting answers and arguments. Plus you'll get some great insight and tips. In the end it depends on the quality of the plane, trimming, and pilot skill. I watched a fella fly his Lanier 33% Yak 54 (previously mine but crashed badly) and I thought to myself, that plane just doesn't fly straight anymore. Then Len Alessi took the radio and the plane flew just as I remembered. Many choices, take it all in and try to decide whats best for you. Steve |

Buy the biggest you can afford.
But there are alot of larger 50cc planes. PAU and EF make some very large 50cc planes. As far as 33%........I'd stay away from it unless you get a really good used price on one. For only a few clams more you can move right to 35%. Biggest thing is that all these size planes will be ARFS. That means that while some will be built straight, others will not (even from the same manufacturer). A straight, true, well trimmed plane is key to IMAC, not the size of it.

TailTouch, The 87" EF Yak was super light and would get blown around in the wind. The 88" Extra is a different animal and it handles the wind great. It's close to as big as a lot of 33% planes. |

You can get a great used 33% for less than $1500.
You can get a great used 30% for around $1200. So does the size make up for the $300 difference. Thanks.

Hey check OMP out, we have two new birds.
Yak55sp that is 102" that would be great for an 85cc and 100cc Extra 300 that is 102" that is set up for 85 or 100cc These things are amazing, they go together very quick and are built very nicely The price is nice too, $950 and about $1125.00 with shipping cant beat that price and you can use all the hard ware that comes with the plane, even comes with spinner

www.dawghouserc.net. 30% Yak55sp Gen I, 87" wing, $499 shipped. Only a few left. I fly it in Sportsman. Great airplane. Super Great Price. OMP will be selling the Gen II version of this airplane. Also an excellent plane, but not available yet. Their 102" Yak and Extra are super airplanes as well. They are available from OMP. Great guys at OMP. They will take good care of you. Bigger is always better in IMAC. Depends on your budget. Good luck on which ever way you decide to go.
