The original Globe Swift is one of the most beautiful planes ever built in my opinion. It was ahead of its time when it came out 63 years ago. IIRC it was the first commercially available, all-metal, retractable gear, light plane and its lines are still as sexy as ever now.

I also like the Cassutt. Don't look at it solely as a "racer", but instead think of a cross using the fuse and general moment arrangement from a Slick 540 with the hershey-bar wing from a Great Planes "Reactor". It has an incredible amount of side area so rolling and knife-edge maneuvers would be very easy to control. Looks great East RC!

Liquidity, I know what you are going through. I have three year old twins and a 7 year-old, all boys. In fact, all three are "all-boy". When the twins were babies my wife and I would each take one at night so we each were effectively single parents of a newborn. Needless to say, "building time" just did not exist!

Congrats on the baby! In no time the baby will be your "pit buddy" at the flying field.

btw a friend of mine has the RC Guys Decathlon and loves it. It is a great "change of pace" plane and is very fun to fly. It requires a lot of skill to fly smoothly (like a Cub) but is by no means "difficult" to fly, and lands slow and smooth. It just requires coordinated turns, etc.

To get something "unique" is easy, buy any ARF as they are all "unique". Now to get something that isn't seen often is a little trickier. Here's a sweet new release from CMP as you like warbirds. Good luck with your search.

I think of it as the Lancair Legacy of the 40's. Those two aircraft, to me, are the sexiest GA aircraft of the eras

i just flew my new great planes reactor and love it. It is unique, its an arf, it is 50cc, light weight, almost 1600sq in wing area, flys patern and 3d very well. But if scale is your flavor, have you ever thought of stripping the covering off a new scale arf of your choice and throwing a wild color sceme on it. This would give you unique, quicker build time than a kit, and you could go with something other people have and it would stand out like you are wanting it to do. These are just my ideas. I was running into the same thing you are when i was looking for a plane in january. I dont care to deviate from the scale aspect so i bought the reactor and changed up the color sceme a little so that if i did see anotherone at a fly in mine would stick out above the rest in its own "Unique" way.

Still no luck on the Globe Swift.. I wish East RC would get the ball moving on this plane.

Damn! Its been almost a year since you started this thread. Go to Aeroworks website and check out their new 50cc Sport Cub. 110" wingspan, adjustable tail incidence for towing gliders, flaps!!! But I gotta warn you, it is a little pricy. Here's a link: http://www.aero-works.net/store/detail.aspx?ID=402
