Joe,
Just caught up on your thread and am very excited for you. It's going to be SO FUNNY watching that "little" 100cc beat a 170cc ! hehe After all, you've now had more flights on this Yak that you had all of last year! Ron |

Joe,
Glad to see you flying again. I think you will love the 100cc yak. I may add one of those to my fleet later this year (Russian Thunder). Good luck with it. Chris designs some pretty awesome airplanes. |

Ron - yes your right...just a few months ago was the first time in about 7 months of not flying. This plane has really gotten me excited again. I had a lot of 'high hopes' when i was building it - and after the first several flights, I was not let down! As for the competition...I am pretty sure I will get beat right along with the rest of them. Competiton is firece (and fun)....but I think with the proper set up, this plane will hold its own.
Steve - Thanks for the kind words...it is good to be back. Sometimes a break in the hobby does the mind good. (nahhhh, lol) Thanks Phillip - To be honest, I cant believ you dont have one of these (you have every other plane they make...lol). That new scheme they have is really nice!! I think you will be very pleased if you get one. The next time we meet up at the field, I'll let you fly the plane and get a taste of it. I have not had a chance to go back out and test fly the 1/16" ship of Up thrust that I had added. Later this week will the best opportunity for me - before leaving for the 'Nall'. I'll report what I find as soon as I fly her again.

Just a quick update...I am now on my last two gallons of break in oil - which will make 6 gallons of Lawn Boy ahless through this DA. The motor is definelty loosing up and is easily ripping the 28-10 Mej two blade....I would really like to try a 26-12 three blade....but just dont want to come off the cash for this as of yet.
So - the last few times I have been out has been quite windy....the plane definelty needs the throttle to penetrate properly, it does get bounced around just a hair more than anyother plane out there...the winds I am talking about is roughly 15mph, and very choppy/gusty. As mentioned before, I still feel as though I could use some more nose weight as the plane is very neutral feeling. Today, I just moved the second receiver battery forward another 6" into the motorbox, just behind the firewall....now, I have both receiver batteries (3000mah Li-Manganese) as far fwd as they can go. I took the cowling off as well and verified that the engine looks good and there is no pinkish color on the cylnders....tells me that the engine is staying cooled like it should. I also verified that there is no leaks from the flex headers and couplers. I also installed a pilot and paper dash...as light as I could go, as I do not need any weight in the back. The pilot is from Aircraft International, and I made the dash and printed it out on photo paper, glued to 3/32 balsa. I plan to go out on monday to see how the move in the second battery takes affect. I 'll post what I find.

Okay - I have settled on the CG, mixing for the pattern mode, roller mode, and spin mode. Moving that second battery in the engine box is exactly what the plane needed. Here is whats on the radio as far as mixing is concerned;
Throttle to Elevator (downline mix) = -5% (approx 2-3 degrees) Rudder to Elevator (knife edge mix) = pattern mode -2% roller mode -2.5% Rudder to Aileron (knife edge mix) - pattern mode - 0% left, -1% right roller mode - 1% left, -1% right No throttle curve, no upline mix for snaps, no downline mix for snaps, no throttle to rudder mix. Going out tomorrow after work to practice the sequence. Aileron throw is approx 27 deg up and down - pattern rate Elevator is approx 12-14 deg up and down - pattern rate Rudder - enough to hold knife edge with a slight climb at 3/4 throttle setting - pattern rate

Just wanted to report that the plane performed very well over this past weekend at its first contest of the year. Flying in Unlimited leaves no room for error with the guys that fly this class as they are hungry to eat your lunch! lol
Everybody flew very well and after 4 rounds, the EF Yak was able to win 5 out of 8 sequences. Not bad on a plane that just past the 5 gallon of engine break in oil before the contest, and was finished being being dialed in 4 days before the contest. Now - if the plane can can just get the pilot to finish the Unknown Sequence....it may get him a place on the podium....lol, oh well. All in all, I would highly recomend this plane to anybody if they want a good flying sequnece plane for IMAC that wont break the budget....hats off to Chris and his R&D crew who had finalized this plane....years ago! Just cant believe there arent more of these on the circuit...in all classes. Welp, thats about it. I hope whoever took time to read this found it enlighting and helped confirm your decision making process if you have been considering one of these for IMAC. I would not hesitate to buy another. Thanks,

I've seen these things put through the ringer. It's a very impressive airplane. Will fly great on a DA 85.

Joe's plane was flying so good, I could not watch it. It was putting to much pressure on me....... Ok, I just looked up pressure in Webster's. PRESSURE: continuous force on or against. Yep, that's Joe and the EF 110" Yak.
