Default New build project. Any help?

I am researching my next project which I have decided will be a PA X260 or the Katana MD. I am new to 3d flight and aerobatics. I have flown trainers and foamies and want to quit wasting my time with those types of airframes. I am looking for an airframe that will give my the ability ot learn aerobatics while also offering me the ability to grow. I chose the PA airframe becuase of the quality of construction, my size/transportation limitations and the reasonable price. The power systems will be the factory suggested equipment. Now all I have left is the radio system. I use 2.4G for my race boats and would like to stick with it. I was planning on using a 6EX 2.4G but I read that a 6-7 channel radio would not provide the mixing required for my desired level of aerobatics. I want to balance cost with room to grow. I don't mind spending the extra cash if it means this will be a radio that will suit me for years to come. But I definitley don't want to purchase a radio today and after one flight realize I need something more. I am now leaning towards the T10CAP 2.4G which can facilitate up to 17 mixes. Where do I draw the line? What's too much? What's not enough?

I guess this site is only for gassers. I didn't catch that. My bad. I'm limited to size restraints since I move frequenlty for work. so I have to stick with something I can store easily. AMybe one day I'll get my hands ona gasser. My question applies for any type of aerobatic planes. Any suggestions?

I just picked up a PA Ultimate and have put that together. I like the combination of Carbon Fiber and Balsa that the PA planes use. Very strong, but also very lite. A couple of years ago I bought a JR 9303 and don't forsee myself growing out of that transmitter anytime soon.

I would buy the transmitter with the most features that you can afford. The 10 Cap is a good choice and should give you all the mixes and channels you would need unless you get into Jets that has a dozen functions on it.

I have had both the 260 and the Katana from PA and they are both great planes. Unfortunately, I killed the Katana rather early in it's life cycle but it was a great plane for the short time I had it. I have had the extra for awhile now and it is a fantastic plane. I think PA is the best in the biz for that size plane. They are built so well and are so strong and light. I think you will be very happy with either plane and they are really more similar than they are different.

By the way -- I have been drooling over the PA Ultimate for awhile now but have yet to pull the trigger. It looks like a great little plane.

I have the PA extra 260 & it's an awesome little plane. PA fiberfusion makes them strong & super light. I like the extra so much that I have an Addiction on the way. Also, smart choice going with their ipa package...everything works & provides loads of power...plus they are very efficient.

Only downside (for me) is that it doesn't like the wind. It is SO light that it just gets blown around too much...not like a foamy in the wind (which is fun).

As for the radio, get what you like, need, and can afford. For me, that was a DX7. It does everything that I need it to and use it on my smallest electrics all the way up to & including the gassers. I would love to have the 9303, but cost was the deciding factor @ the time and it is still serving me well.
