Hello,

My name is Edvard and I am a friend of Knut Erik (Tikka). Just wanted to say that I have started assembling my Ultimate. I bought the other plane that came to Norway with Knut Eriks Ultimate.

Power box (EQ 10) and regulator is in, so is the Seiko PS 050 for the rudder.

Waiting for the 16 pcs. of HD 9150 MG servos to arrive from Hong Kong and then start to twin cables for all servoes, we make our own extension leads.

For the engine I am not sure yet, I have an 3W 212 CS 4 banger that I can use, want to see first how Knut Eriks is flying with the 240 engine. If that is not enough I guess Gerhard will get an order for a 275.

Will post some pics later when I get them down loaded.

Storefly,

That 212 will sound sweet, but to make this baby hum, the 275 is going to be needed.

Hey John.

Have you flown the Ultimate with the 275 yet?
Still haven't flown mine, I'm at work until next sunday, and the weekend after that I'm off to a flying event. Hopefully I won't have to maiden the Ultimate there.

Rodnei: How is yours coming? Is it ready soon?
Take care.

We flew the other ultimate with the 275 in it this weekend and it is the engine to have with this ultimate. We only put 3 flights on it to make sure everything was ok. We will put alot more flights on it when we go to the D.O.G.S. show in Dayton, Ohio September 2,3,4,5,6. I will post some pics as soon as I get the graphics on it. Hopefully by next weekend.

Rodnei,
Glad to hear everything is going good. The prop we are using is a Tennessee propeller 37x13 wood prop. You can get these props from Bryan Zang. He is also the person for your decals. His web site is aerographix.biz. He does excellent work and he is the one where Elie gets his decals. When you contact him, let him know that I sent you to him and if he has any questions on the prop, he can call me. The prop will take about 2 weeks to get it to you so you may want to order it soon.
Thanks,
John

So my 240cc will maybe not have enough power then
Well, I have ordered carbonfiber landing gear, and will also get carbonfiber wing tubes, this should lighten the plane some.
But John, will the plane not hover at all with the 240? Does it have any vertical power at all? Can I fly some Basic Imac with it or just fly like the full size?
What can I expect?

It would if the plane were lighter, i know you already put it together, but it may require a bit of massaging. It can be done.

Well, it will be done.
I'll fly it like it is for the rest of the season, cause I have the 40% SD Yak op for a diet now. I have downloaded all the pics from your thread about that, and mine will be ligther. When I have finished that, I will strip the covering off this Ultimate and chop away. The wings are very heavy, the rudder is made of solid wood, very heavy, the fuse is not heavy at all. Not much to do there, I think. And the stabs are also very heavy. Seems like they have been afraid that the wings would break, and then they have reinforced them well.

But first, I need to fly it, cause the planes that John has, are prototypes, and maybe mine is lighter than his. I'll weigh when I get back from work, sunday. I can not afford a bigger engine at this point, and it will only add more weight, and I don't want it any heavier than it allready is.

I agree, 67lbs is absurd for this plane not being much bigger than the 46% and hardly bigger than the 40% yak. JMO but we dont use any equipment that is not REQUIRED to fly them. FRom what ive seen, 2 servos per aileron would be plenty, i too noticed how beefy the stabs and rudder were, I would strip it in a heart beat, and i'm confident this plane could get down close to 40lbs and fly with a 170 or 210 on pipes. Good luck with the yak bro and if you have any questions on structure, let me know Ill help all I can.

Tikka,
I have not had a chance to fly my ultimate with the 240 anymore. I will fly it alot when I go to the D.O.G.S. show. I am going to try a 36x11 on it also. It does have good verticle and flies nice, I just don't know about hovering and climbing out. I will try after I get a few more flights on the engine.
Have a great week,
John

Hey John, Andreas mention a few posts back that the Ulti could be had as a kit, could you find out more about this and let me know.? Or even in ARC form.
