One of the ones that I sold, the new owner is having me build it for him, so I will be doing a build thread as well. Probably won't start for about a month.

Just started on our two ultimates the other day. I have the elevator servo's in each of them. I am using all futaba 9157's servos's. It is a very strong and fast servo and has been working great in our 60%er's so far. I will be back to work on the ultimates monday and will try to get some pictures up soon. I am hoping to get them done in a couple of weeks. I am putting the 3w 240 in each of them. They should have plenty of power. As for the people that say the big planes are unsafe, I dissagree. I have been flying 50% or bigger planes for 27 years and have an excellent track record. I find that the people that bitch about them are the people that are just jealous and can't afford or have the ability to fly / build them. I went to a fly in one time and people gathered around my 40 foot trailer to see what was in there and I heard one guy talking crap about how unsafe the big planes were. Well later that fly in he crashed his plane because he did not have the ability to fly it. We flew are big stuff with no problems, so I had to ask him, now who is unsafe? I flew the 70% stadaucher that is 400+ pounds and has a 105 horsepower engine with no problems. You people that don't like the big planes don't need to worry about the people that do. We probably do more preventive maintance and checking over the plane in week than you do in a year. Get off your jealous kick and quit bashing us guy's that fly the big planes. If this offended anyone, don't read post's on big airplanes anymore, go do some maintance on your plane instead or learn how to fly.
Thanks,
John Light

Hello John.

Congrats on the maiden with your 60% ers. They sure look great. I'm heading home today, and hopefully later this evening I can start putting the Ultimate together. Did you send something for me today?
Since we are building the same planes, with the same engines, it will be fun to compare weight and CG. I like my bipes to be tailheavy for great 3D flying. I plan on using Hitec 5985 on ailerons and 5955TG on the elevators. Since this plane is just a "tad" bigger then the H9, I think it will be plenty. Seiko on the rudder, as always. The landing gear seemed to be a bit soft according to my friend who opened the box, but I'll find out later. There is a fly-in 17-19 july here in Norway, and I'm planning to fly the Ultimate there. This weekend I'm going to attend in an IMAC competition with my 40% Yak.

Hope all is well with you John, and good luck with your build. We'll stay in touch

Knut Erik.

If there is a single sole out there that believes the big planes are not safe (in the US) just go to the AMA site and see what these guys have to go through and stuff they have to do before each day of flying, and each flight that day to obtain and keep their over 55 lbs. waiver. I'll give you a hint, it's over 5 pages of text of things they have to do (all safety tasks). For us guys under 55 lbs. there is no list., just a suggested list that is not mandatory.

I also installed the elevator servos today, very easy to do, great fit. But the stabs are quite heavy. The cowl is also heavy for its size, but maybe it will balance just fine, when everything is ready. Will start on the aileron servos tomorrow, and I'll post some pics then. My engine should arrive this week, and if all goes to my plan, the plane will be ready by the end of the weekend. We'll see.
