Default rolling loop help

I've been hammering away on the sim over the winter and have gotten rolling circles down pretty good , directing the plane around where I want . But cannot get the second half of a rolling loop, the down side of the loop is tough. Any tips that may get me past this point.

Thanks Al

You're thinking too much. A rolling loop is just a rolling circle on its side. The only difference is is that gravity has a greater and changing effect on it.
A precision rolling loop is very hard ad that should not be your goal right now, but just getting the plane to do a circleish figure on the vertical plain is not. If the back half of the loop is hard for you then practice just rolling split "S"'s.
The biggest thing is to stop letting your brain try to override your thumbs.

I think the guy is looking for a little more than that. I'll give you my opinion. Not sure If I'm doing them right or not. I don't agree that it is the same as a roling circle. I don't use the rudder on the up lines or down lines, only at the top and the bottom of the circle. Gravity is the obvious reason

Thanks for all of the replies. I can do an "S" pattern, I do the first half of the loop and sometimes end up going up and heading back the other way again. Maybe I am thinking too much, I have done some "accidently" it just sucks when you don't know what you did to do it.
Thanks, Al

Working on them myself at the moment, need to clean up and make them rounder. I have found that I was reducing throttle too much across the top, as I have started to leave the throttle a little higher, they're looking better. Also, as with most maneuvers, hundreds of repetitions on the sim didn't teach me how to fly the maneuver perfectly, but it did get the basic muscle memory down so that when I started working on it for real, I could immediately concentrate on how to make it better. Good luck, and just remember, even a ragged, ugly rolling loop (like mine) is a pretty rare thing at most fields....

When talking a smaller 3D type rolling loop, a trick to the last quarter is using enough throttle. There is a lot of drag induced with the large control surface deflections so to overcome gravity, you need to get power in sooner than probably feels comfortable at first. It will pick the nose up and get you through the last quarter without buiulding up a lot of speed.
Of course, its always good to practice a mistake or two high till you master it.

After you crest the top of the loop get off the throttle while maintaining inputs,on the last quarter start getting on the throttle again and add more inputs then you needed the first 3/4,s.

When you want to practice, just start with a downline, roll and the pull to an level. That's the last quarter of the loop. When you got that, then move to a negative half loop. Then put 2+2 together and you'll get a rolling loop.

Also, make sure you really lengthen out the first half so you dont have to put in a ton of input on the second half.

Thanks everyone. Mike, you were right on, more throttle and sooner than you think brings it on around. I'll keep at the sim til the nice weather comes.

Hmmmm seems I have the opposite problem, my thumbs always seem to override my brain! All joking aside I think you will get it if you keep at it. I spent all last winter ( the one before this past one : ) on the sim and came out a whole different pilot. Rollers down on the deck, rolling loops, or whatever I figured out on my own. You can listen to everyone here as to how they do it but just burning fuel and figuring it out on your own and developing your own style is whats going to really help you. Good luck
