Well I bought my first plane it was a Four Star 40 and I always bought a Cessna 182 electric for my wife and I will use that one to learn the controls and all that stuff anyways I got the O.S 55ax because it has the same mounts as the 46 and it came with a tuned pipe. Now my question is is this gonna be a good set up and how hard is this plane gonna be for a beginner? I have done the flight simulators and played tons of airplane games is it anything like that?

Hey ya heres another ? Does HiTech make a Four Star 40 also? The reason why I ask is because on the wings there are HiTech stickers and it has the exact same markings as the 4 Star 40.

Only Sig Manufacturing makes the 4 Star series. The 4 Star is a great second plane... especially since you are overpowering it... i have had 4 of these planes... first one was stock build straight from planes and the kit. I used a .46 os and that was plenty of power to even fly around on 3/4 throttle. The other 3 Four Stars that i built, I did different modifications like for instance took the dihedral out of the wing... shortened the wing, kept the leading edge a sharp point and a few others. In my opinion from alot of time on the 4 Stars, you probably should go with a little smaller motor maybe a .40 to start if this is really your first plane... just my .02 cents

My second plane was a 4 star 40 with a 55ax. That was a great plane that I had a ton of fun with. Don't worry about the larger motor, you don't have to fly at full power.

No need to put an .55 with a tuned pipe on a 4*40.
a .46 with a regular exhaust is more then enough. Especialy if you build it light... I had one with a .61 saito swinging a APC 12x6. Perfect combo. Also reduced the dihedral to half indicated in the plans... (and still lighter as on the box) Flew realy sweet, until a servo fried...

I had no idea that Vess made small props. Not sure if a 4*40 will benefit tho'.

Well I have been reading the dumb thumbs threads for all the bashed planes my heart goes out to them that has to suck and I have learned alot about what to do and what not to do and I learned about getting shot down I think I will remember to pull my freq pin on the board so i dont get shot down granted i dont have a super nice plane but still its a good habit to have. Also learned about checking my plane befrore flights at the field in the Army we call that PMCS and that will serve me quite well in the future. Thanks again for all the help.
