That never used to be the case. They were quite durable with the products available several years back. Hopefully that hasn't changed since I have a 33% Cub awaiting assembly.

Had two of them but never again. Bought a 28% extra 300 lx 1 year ago. After the initial discovery of 3/4" play on one wing tip due to a loose socket tube fit, soft screw that broke off after tightening and glue joints you could drive a car thru I ended up recovering it after repairing the oversize wing tube socket. The covering was providing more adhesion than the wood glue on much of the plane. I ended up re-kitting it almost using light pressure to pull the entire model apart before re assembly. Wood choice was poor and excessively reduced in size and strength, construction was hap hazard and messy with formers running off at angles close to 9 degrees. What you cant see is the most disconcerting. Inside the wing, tail and fin all the joints where dry or separating. Amazed no one has ever been hit by one as it fell apart in flight.
Bought a wildhare extra recently. Difference in build quality is like night and day. |
