Nope, not a Glock but the right engine of the Barron I was right seat in. Happened at about 200 AGL,made it back to the airport but not the same runway,,,, well almost made a runway. All is well, not a scratch on the airplane. Got pretty interesting for a while!
Will find out what broke tomorrow.[:/] |

Update, found out the prop failed, mechanic manually twisted blades into 'normal' position from feathered and the engine started and ran OK. So, two new three blades props and spinners (currently two blade). Still gonna look at everything, that was a strange failure, I bet there is more going on out there on the right wing.

Right engine will be removed, disassembled and inspected. Also brought back to "zero" time. It was considered a sudden stoppage. So far a little over $50,000.

none do under normal operation. Under incorrect usage, anything fails.

LOL, Greyhoundman 'gets' it !
Prop governers also will be brought back to new specs. Both engines and props were well below 'mid' time,,,,still scratching our heads over this one. |

Not trying to argue with you but my definition of normal usage would be inserting a magazine in to the pistol feeding a round in to the chamber and firing the pistol (using typical factory ammo NOT reloads in a well maintained gun). Unfortunately Glocks chambered in .357 sig, 10mm, .40cal and .45 acp have a history of catastrophic failure under normal working conditions. Their barrels are not fully supported ( to aide in feeding and reliability) allowing the cartridge to potentially fire out of battery thus leading to possible cartridge failure and pistol damage. here is a link to a Glock KB site: www.thegunzone.com/glock/glock-kb-faq.html
nothing against Glocks allot of people like them personally I like METAL guns instead

I have had the unpleasant experiance of loosing a counterweight off the prop on a baron. it tore the spinner off, then bounced into the nose, back into the prop arc and got slapped forward and got flown into again. then the real freaky part. it flew over the nose and into the prop on the other side. it belted the spinner and created a huge dent in that side. I have a few photos somewhere and will try and post them.
