WOW! Very neat and professional looking install! The only thing I can nitpic is maybe remove the screw holding the ign. mod. on so as not to transmit vibes.

Have you balanced that girl yet? If I had that many batteries that far forward on mine the nose would have been pointing straight down if held at the suggested balance point. Plus I didn't have a choke servo up front along with a throttle servo.
Relocate the plug wire up and away from the pipe. Loop it up and over the standoff.

you have done a great job here! good work... the only thing that i can see is the fuel tubing..... i have had that stuff turn into a polevaulting apparatus after a few short months! that type of tubing tends to stiffen quickly. if you used it in your tank setup leading to the clunk, change it soon! don't risk your beautiful airframe to a piece of cheap tubing. the best stuff you can use is the "blue tubing" by AeroTrend. this stuff is virtually "un-hardenable".... just my $.02
happy flying, be proud of this one!

Your install is one of the most professional I've ever seen. Great job.

Great build! You will love the plane. I have one with a DA100 on std pipes which is on it's third season and still looks and flys close to new. A couple of quick suggestions. As Tired Old Man has said, check that CG really close. I ened up moving batteries back to get my balance a bit more towards the rear and the plane flew a lot better. After a few flights, check the plane really well for suspect glue joints. I found several on mine early on, but after some CA treatment have not had any other problems during a couple of years of flying. Be careful of the gear as it is not the strongest in the world. Having said that, I am still on my original set but have taken them off and "adjusted" them a couple of times. They are pretty springey (which isn't necessarely a bad thing). After the first year or so I tried cambering or bending in the vertical portion of the gear in where the wheel bolts to the gear. That seemed to help with keeping the gear from splaying.
Enjoy the plane. I have a couple of other big birds but find myself throwing this one in the truck when I want to go have fun. It really has no bad habits. |

Thanks for all the coments guys.....I really appreciate the input. This is my first 50cc gaser. I usually just fly 2 strokes, 4 strokes, and have a gas H-9 Cessna with a G-26 in it.
I checked the balance of the plane using the Vanessa method and it was tail heavy WITHOUT any batteries in it. I placed the batteries up front and it looked like the balance was going to be right in the center of the wing tube. I need to check again now that they are in.......just need to bring everything back up from the workshop to the garge to assemble and recheck. (I need a bigger workshop for these big planes!!!!!) I will change the plug wire routing somehow (thought maybe it was close) and remove the nuts and bolts holding the ign module. Also will change the fuel tubing as soon as I find a source.......Can anyone direct me to a source? My hobby shop only sells the tygon tubing for gassers. Again, THANKS for your inputs !!!!! This hobby and its' people are the BEST! |

No hurry to change the gas line. You should take the fuel system apart for inspection before every flying season in any case. I've been using the yellow tygon for years and have never had a problem with it. Then again, I don't expect fuel lines to last indefinately. Yes, it stiffens up but it gets changed before it ever becomes a problem. Just as the tank filters do.

One small suggestion, if not secured properly the tygon will tend to slip off the tubing on your clunk line. You can put a small bead of solder or a barb around the tubing and then attach the fuel line and secure it with a wire tie or a clamp.

Antenna. Comes stock with a 72 mhz system. Works so well you only need one receiver instead of two or four like a 2.4 system. Doesn't require a special redundant battery receiver either.
