It's going to be very warm and sunny this weekend, but the wind jury is still out. So far, nothing serious predicted...

Weather decided to cooperate today (Friday)..Numerous individuals out to practice..Beautiful day
Some unexpected bad news...I was told that Rusty Fried lost his airplane as a total today..Too Bad,
no one likes to hear these things, but....S#!% happens. A masked man flying a red and white stretch
Dalton w/a 4 cyl was putting it up pretty strong in unlimited..never seen him in a regular IMAC contest
uummm..who in hell is that?? Sound will be enforced....98 db @ 25 feet. Change out those noisy
props...Gonna be a great weekend. I will put up a daily post with results, odds, betting etc.

That sucks about Rusty's plane. That was a very nice looking and flying bird.

One wing exploded in the air during a single positive snap. The plane had almost 300 flights on it, so it was a proven and tested airfrane. He was at a loss about how it happened when he called me. He will be flying his Great Planes Extra for the contest.

First day went well..Tim May and crew from Las Vegas Rc club did a great job as usual. Small # of
entries, ran one line. Moving along really good, got in a lot of flying. The weather was warm and
cooperative, tho a little windy at times. We got the mask off the guy w/the red and white Dalton...
our own Mark E. Leseberg, while he did not compete he put up some tough numbers showing how
it should be done...awesome! Seems Mark was out supporting his younger brother who was competing
Most classes are pretty tight so far with no real kick A$$ dominance. Following observations...
Basic pretty tight w/ Richard Cody and Mike Smith & 40 points
Sportsman Mike Bacosa holding a lead, flying good
Intermediate A real scramble, could be 1 of 3
Advanced Bill Adams flying really well..my pick
Unlimited Tight battle w/Eric Powell-Steve Nelson
All classes flying strong and well...No Dumb Thumbs here..These guys are "Pros"

A fine finish to a very good and well presented event. Super Job on the part of Tim May and the Las Vegas RC Club in making it possible. Weather cooperated, two flying lines, Great Chow. Nobody went hungry. Close finishes in most
classes with some keen competion and really good flying. Prelim results...I am really tired..need a nap!
Basic-Mike smith w/Richard Cody close 2nd
Sportsman-Mike Bacosa
Intermediate-Matthew Stringer
Advanced-Bill Adams

Sounds like the Las Vegas crew put on a great event as usual, sorry I couldn't make it. Congratulations to all the winners. Darn, Matt Springer is coming up fast, winning in his second event with a gas plane. That kid has a lot of native talent. Now I am going to get picked on by him, and Spencer. Darn Kids!

See you all in Riverside in two weeks!!!

I would like to echo Tom's words. It was a great contest with everybody pitching in to help. Bill Adams and I had a great time and we got out early enough to make it back to Phoenix by 9:30 p.m. Not too bad considering the wait at the dam. By the way it was nice to finally meet you Tom. Keep beeting up Eric, he gets better everytime I see him. See everyone in Tucson!!
