this is easy one. enter as many events as you can all over the place. not just the local stuff, and win them all. you will be noticed. it wont take long. IF you can do this, it will come. if you never loose it will happen faster than you think.

I ask myself the same question....... the answer is fly better than anyone else!
Seriously, Its hard to get sponsored in this hobby because there a only a few select pilots that are considered good enough to be sponsored. JMO

Fly well, and just because the old farts at your field are in awe of you doesn't mean you have what it takes to win. Just because you might be able to do rolling harriers and scrape the wing tips all the way down the runway with a foamie or $200 nitro plane doesn't mean you can do the same with a $7,000 40%er. Just because everyone in your town might know you because they have heard stories about your flying skillz doesn't mean you are better than someone from another town.
And flying skill alone doesn't always cut it. Experience - years and years of it - counts. How you react with people means something. Bottom line, you gotta make yourself known and talk is cheap. Winning contests, both precision and freestyle, and maybe becoming a demo pilot at airshows, etc. is one way to do that. You also have to realize that being sponsored doesn't mean free stuff for about 95% of all sponsored pilots, it just means discounts - and you have to represent your sponsors with THEIR best interest in mind, sometimes it's a fine line between pushing a worthy product and pushing complete crap. At your age, I'd worry more about becoming successful enough to not have to rely on sponsorship, and for the meantime just fly what you can afford from your paper route or mowing lawns or whatever and have fun. It doesn't take a 40%er to have a blast in this hobby. When I was 13 I was walking my arse to the local park with a Gentle lady glider and happy as a clam just to be able to do that.

Call Dad, and ask for more money. Think of it like a major league baseball team, any team, hell pick your favorite team and name me 5 players. The five you can name are the sponored ones everyone else are US the average flyer maybe even great flyer. I'm a Nats champion and have just a handful of sponsors and greatfull for each everyone of them. I appreaciate there support. Anyway as posted above go to as many fly-ins, be a straight up person, respect the hobby, help others, and get your name out there. It's alot more than being able to bang your sticks to the corners. Your an ambassador of there products and the hobby.
