I am looking for the best 6-7 wingspan 3D plane would be for someone that likes to do a lot of hovering and slow flight?
I like the way the 3D Yak fliys in RealFligh 4.5. Are there any on the market that feel like that? Thanks for the replies! Ryan. |

The one you practice the most with............
It doesnt matter which model you go with(extra, yak, edge, cap, suk, ultimate, etc..) they all have different flight characteristics and fly great. They all can hover if you can, some torque roll better than others though. |

Well in the simulator, there are plenty of Extras, Yaks, Edges ect., but only a few of them say they are 3D specific. There is a big difference with the 3D models when Im playing around at slow speeds. I can pop it back up a lot better, faster.
Is that because of larger wings or flaps? Or is this just the throw settings on the sim? Thanks again. Ryan. |

If you just want a Yak, there are several super airframes on the market and looking at them in person helps. If you don’t fly 3d and want to learn, a good start would be go to Joe Nall and check out all the different models and colors ----etc.
Like Mike said they all will hover!-------Take your time and do a little research and you will find your plane! ---------IMO A |

3D planes do not have flaps. The planes in the simulator are marked "3D" to make it easier for users of the sim to identify planes that are set-up to fly 3D. In order to make an aerobatic plane do 3D maneuvers well, you need it to have low wing loading, lots of control, and the center of gravity should be towards the tail. You can edit the aerobatic planes (Yaks, Extras, Edges) that do not say "3D" next to their name to fly 3D just as well by adjusting the parameters I mentioned in the previous sentence.

6-7 foot wingspan? if this is your first 3D plane i would suggest going smaller, something cheap that you can bang around.. anything scale can not take hits so well, you want durability.. a .46 size glow profile or a 200-300watt electric setup is cheap and will teach you a ton for little money.. for ARF's there is the OMP Yak or edge and the Extreme flight "Chinn" Yak55sp, or the valuehobby.com sabre47, or 35" electrics
if you can build a kit the Mojo is hard to beat

If you're not hung up on a scale plane, look at the GP 50cc Reacter. IMHO the easiest plane to hover that i've flown. Chief had'em fer $350 last I checked. Good luck on your quest.

Its not my first 3D plane, but Im thinking about getting back in after buying RealFlight 4.5. Im now looking at the Hangar 9 27% Extra 260.
Does anyone know the difference between the Extra 260 and Extra 300? What are the pros and cons of both? Thanks for all of the replies guys |

Gotta go with Spaz on that one, the best throw around planes Ive owned were mojo 60's with Saito 100 on the nose, I beat the crap out of these profiles and they kept begging for more. Damn good 3D trainer. Then go straight to 35%, skip the crappy 50cc stuff and get a plane that flies good, as mentioned, WING LOADING is very important.

Webstars,
Gotta agree with MikeC3D. Beat up a Mojo or Extreme Flight Chinn Yak. Can't go wrong. Go for the big stuff after. The longer you wait to go giant scale you will kick yourself in the ARs for not doing sooner. Oh and keep it light it will do more easily. Ronster |

H9 27% 260 is not your best option, 'specially if all you wanna do is hover. If you are looking to put a 50cc engine on something, look for planes with around an 84" wingspan - and not all yaks are the same. Different manufacturers have different design changes, control surface sizes, weights, airfoils, etc. If you want a Yak then the Extremeflight is pretty much the way to go. They also make a killer Extra 300. Aeroworks makes a nice-flying Extra 260. 3DHobbyshop has a badass Slick540.
Basically, look for something with 1300+ square inches of wing area and flying weights 17 pounds or less - preferably 16 pounds.
