Default NC Intro to IMAC

Good Day FG Friends,

Well today was a good day in the NC region. With nice weather throughout the day and barely any wind it was an overall good day at the Intro to IMAC in Bloomington.

First of all I would like to thank Wayne Geffon and Dan Knippen for explaining IMAC and answering all questions asked this morning.

The day started off with coffee and donuts and then a couple hours of classroom discussion followed by some delicious pizza that Mrs. Geffon brought out to us. Thanks so much for that Mrs. Geffon.

It seems that a lot of people learned a lot this year and there will be many pilots in the basic class that will be following through with IMAC competition. Todays Intro to IMAC brought in around 30 pilots from all over the NC Region.

Pictures attached from today at the S.I.R.S field for the Intro to IMAC. Sorry for the bad pictures because the kid got a hold of the camera and I did not realize it was so dirty. If anyone has any pictures to add from todays event please feel free to add them.

Thanks again Mr. and Mrs. Geffon and Dan Knippen.

Thanks for the write up Shane.
We had a great turnout with a lot of interested new IMAC guys. Everyone was flying the sequence really well for their first time at it. We also had two guys flying the Sportsman sequence.
I am hoping we get some new IMAC members out of the class and see some at a contest or two this year.

Thanks to everyone for coming out.

I sure wish I was going to Clinton! I already have a trip up to Erie fishing with the father-in-law.

I am going to try and make it to Columbus though.

Default 2009 IMAC Seminar - Bloomington Illinois

Guys, this IMAC class was off the hook!!

Just wanted to give a special thanks to Wayne Geffon and Dan Knippen for putting together such a productive seminar. It was really nice of these guys to devote their entire Saturday to a classroom IMAC lesson and a morning and afternoon flying session.

Approximately 30 guys showed up eager to learn the finer points of IMAC. Wayne and Dan were well prepared with large posters of all the 10 Basic IMAC maneuvers. They went over each and every maneuver and fielded many questions that were posed. They even put together a folder that they passed out which contained the 2009 Basic Known IMAC sequence, written descriptions of each maneuver, 3 pages explaining what "IMAC is all about" and the Aresti dictionary.

Wayne and Dan worked diligently with each and every pilot through one-on-one training. Each pilot flew the sequence twice per flight and they would help you throughout the entire sequence with suggestions and pointers as to how to fly the sequence better and improve your scores. On maneuvers that were more complex than others, you had the opportunity to start over and give it a try 2 or 3 more times. I lucked out and actually got to fly the sequence 6 times (3 flights total).

They also were helping the guys with set up questions and were fine tuning the trimming and mixes on several planes.

I made several new friends. All the guys at the field were going on and on about how well it was set up and how much they were getting out of it. If there is another next year, I am in. You can't ever learn enough about IMAC!

Big Kudos is well deserved to both Wayne and Dan

I just got back from the field..
Brian Eltherington stayed for today and we were able to get him a few more flights in some pretty heavy winds.
He was doing really well by the end of the third flight correcting for the x-wind.
Lots of fun to see people progress in such a short amount of time.

Wayne:
I heard good reports from this class from the guys I recommended to go.
They are all excited about IMAC now.
Tried to tell them to make it to Clinton, who knows.
Know they are going to Sprigfield and St Charles even after I told them about Knippen............

Hope the posters worked out OK.

PS:
Both are still in the hospital, so not much change here.

Even though I had the misfortune of not bringing all of the needed parts of my plane to fly (I'll never do that again!!!!) I learned an exreme amount of information from the classroom and even picked up pointers watching the other guys fly. Thanks again Wayne and Dan for having the patience and the desire to want to teach beginners like myself the basics of IMAC!!!

Now I know who you are. (The Stab Guy) I am sorry I did not introduce myself but we did talk. Anyway, hope to see you on the circuit this year.
