I don't believe that it is the old EF Yak.
I think it is a RC League design. From what I can find it seems to have come out around December 2006.

Sorry guys that it has been a long time on any updates.
The stab repair is finished. I used a rat tail file and filed the stab socket tube in the fuse to make it level with the wig tube. I then put the stab tube inplace and thick CA'ed the tube in place. It came out pretty close to being perfect with the wing tube. I am 98% finished. I need to put aileron linkage on, and find final placement of my batteries when I do the CG. I mounted the fuel tank under the wing tube. ( I'll post pictures later ). Eveything is in the plane, I just may need to move some stuff around. It came in a 16 lbs. 7.5 oz. ( dry ). I am figuring with the 17 oz fuel, the fuel should weight about 13.5 oz. So it should be in the aera of 17 lbs. 5 oz. wet ready to fly, and with the CRRC GP50R turning a 23 X 7 JC Super prop @ 7500+ rpm on the ground it should be ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() .

Here are some pictures.
All decals are on and the canopy is painted. The last two are how/where I installed the fuel tank. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Hey guys.
Here is the video of the maiden flight of the Yak. It was a really gusty/windy day but I did do the maiden. When I get a calmer day and tune the engine more for in flight, I will ring it out and post some vids. Right now the low end is rich in the air. The three flights I made, I did lean the low end, but it still sounds to need more.

Well, I just got my RC League model and a little concerned on one item and hoping someone can help. The robart style hinges that came assembled but not glued is where my concern is. When I pulled the aileron off I noticed the large holes required to allow the hinge to set in properly, the issue is there just dosn't seem to be much wood for the hinge to glue to on the main surface (wing, elevator, rudder). I'm guessing about 1/4" is all there is. Will Gorilla glue get in there and foam up enough to really hold these hinges to the wings, elevator and rudder? This is my first gasser so I may ask a few questions if you guys don't mind during my build.

Thats what I use and used on my RC league Yak. ( Gorilla glue ).
The way it expands and sticks, there shouldn't be any problems. Just make sure to oil the pivot points so the glue does stick there.

Yup, Gorilla Glued mine, worked like a charm. Mask off around holes first, then most off the excess glue just pulls off with the tape. And something in the hinges, I used vaseline. Once you're done, you can look down the inside of the wing and see the glue that expanded around the pin of the hinge, it'll make ya feel better.

So 2robinhood, where does a guy find one of these engines? Are they still not for sale? I've looked around and nobody seems to carry THAT exact engine. Looks pretty strong, and the CRRC are in a fair price range I feel. Thanks in advance.

Jody Haack and I are the only two that I know of in the US with this engine. Jody sells CRRC engines ( Valley View RC ). He may know of a release date of the GP50R.

thanks for the suggestion and vote of confidence on the hinges, I will probably change to Robart's hinges but will definitly go with Gorilla glue as you guys suggested. In regards to engine I am planning to go with DL55 and was wondering if it uses the same bolt pattern as the one that came drilled from RC League. Any suggestions from your experience on the build would be very much appreciated.

I don't know if things have changed or not, I had an older kit, before all the carbon and what-not. Mine was drilled for a crrc 45, which was not the same a DA/DL. I know that ARF went through some changes, so don't quote me on it.

They also send a second firewall that is for a DA or DL-50 in the new/current kits.

The wife got me the Russian Thunder schema RCLeague Yak for father's day. I've started the build and I'm setting up for Power 160 outrunner (2700watts) with a 10S lipoly. Control surfaces are installed and taped, but I'm stumped on how the elevator/stabs attach to the fuselage. The instructions are more like a parts list than a "how to" Any inputs on this part of the assembly would be deeply appreciated.
