I got down to implementing the alternative solution for securing the elevator/stabs. I notched a small area on the inside rib so I can attach a downward facing tab. I secured the tabs wil 5min Epoxy. After cutting away some of the monokote on the bottom rear it was easy to add a 1/8" x 1/2" x 1.5" strip of beechwood sheeting to provide a plate to screw the new tabs into once the stabs are inplace on the CF tube.

that's double bad! I should have read the thread more thoroughly On the plus side VallyeViewRC had the canopy in stock... $30 + shipping Tom over there is awesome.

Outside of the canopy issue, the build is progressing.
1) I got the landing gear holes measured and drilled, wheel skirts are installed and the wheels mounted. (Danger! watch the CF dust.... wear a mask). Key learning: use the skirts to locate hole positions on the landing gear legs.
2) I got the tail wheel installed (nice CF setup that will attach to pull pull control horns). Key learning: I had to drill slightly larger holes on the CF plate to get the plate to align with the holes/blind nuts on the fuselage.
3) Mounted the elevator servos
4) Got the tabs build and glued on the stabs (see previous posts)
5) I started assembly of the servo control arms. The kit comes with some nice LARGE phenolic arms that you screw to the stock control arms. I should be able to get the 45 deg deflection on all surfaces with these

thanks for posting the elevator work around, I like it. I also wanted to comment that Tom at Valley View is a great guy to work with, he actually answers emails and returns calls. I also purchased my RC League YAK from him and will be purchasing additional items in the future. Keep us posted on your final build, CG positoin, and some thoughts on your maiden flight.

One of the reasons I like using the EFlite Motors is they do a great job of providing baseline specs on optimal configurations for different flying ranges. Being that I want to do 3D, here's their recommended setup for a 15.3lb aerobatic plane (they used an extra 260). I'll be using two 5 cell 4300mah to 5000mah packs and should get similar (or better) power to weight.

Motor: Power 160
ESC: Castle Creations Phoenix HV-110 (CSEPHX110HV)
Prop: APC 20x10E (APC20010E)
Battery: Thunder Power PRO LITE 5300mAh 10S4P (2 – THP53005S4PPL packs run in series)
Flying Weight w/Battery: 15.3 lbs
Amps 76
Volts 36
Watts 2740
Input Watts/Pound RPM 179/7250

An issue I am having with mine is it is half snapping out on a hard pull of up elevator. I mean yanking into a hover or performing a wall it will through into a snap or knid of a knife edge.
I will be messing with it somemore and I will let you guys know what I figure out.

Hey guys Ive read most of the posts and just wondering how everyone has made out with the planes. I just acquired one of these and am just finishing it up. Need to mount bats a figure for CG. But overall are they all still up in the air? Anything to look out for now that there is some stick time on them?

Thanks...Kat
