7.4VDC setting under Li-Ion. Normally, you wouldnt go over 1C charge rate on Li-Ions/Polys, (4400 = max charge 4.4amps) But with a duralite, and the charge safe circuit, you are limited how fast you can charge them anyway-im not sure what the limit is. I would set it at 7.4VDC, .5amp charge rate. I know on my Duralite 11.1 TX pack, it doesnt let it charge above .3amps (1300mah).

Ensure the voltage is set correctly. Under "Li-ION" input no more than 1c of your pack's capacity. IE: 1370 Mah pack= 1.3a on the charger. Again for example 2100Mah pack = 2.1 a on the charger( for amps) I would even go for .5 c of the pack's capacity for the initial cycling of your new pack. This is a very slow charge rate and will aid in balancing the cells. ie: 2000mah=1a

Hope this helps,

mark

but after the first charge can I put 2.5A to my 4000mha and 1A to my 2000mha?

NO

The Duralite flight packs can not be charged at more than 0.4A.
To charge a Duralite flight pack, regardless of size the Triton must be set for Li-Ion, 7.4V and 0.4A.
If you try to charge higher, the charger should simply shut off and your pack will not get charged.

If you do not understand this then it would be money well spent to buy the Duralite charger where it is all preset.

I own a Triton charger and have an understanding of electronics, and still bought a Duralite charger just because it is simple and mistake resistant.

Benji - It's always a good idea to break-in lipos & li-ion for the first 3-5 cycles @ a 1/2 C or less when charging. Set the Triton's voltage @ 7.4V and the amps at 2A for the 4000mAh battery and 1A for the 2000mAh battery. After 3-5 cycles you can charge the 2000mAh @ 2A but you'll have to charge the 4000mAh at 2.5A because that's the highest charging amps the Triton will go.

dook I don't know where you read abou cyling li-pos or li-ions batteries but i think you are wrong!!!

YOU ARE NOT SOPOUSED TO CYCLE LI-PO/IONS BATTERIES,,,,JUST BECASUE YOU DON'T NEED TO!!!!!

the Triton charger it's a great charger once you know how to use it,,, and once you set all the batteries on the memory you forget about settings!!!!

Just set the charge at 1A on the triton and forget about it it should give those 4400mah bateries a slow to a normal charge.

i don't know anything about duralites batteries but most li-po li-ions batteris that I use you just charge them 1A per 1000mah,,,,,, what I mean is if the battery is 2400mah you set the charger at 2.4A,,if it is 600mah you set the charger at 0.6A.

For personal preference I set my Li-ion 7.4 2400mah batteries at 0.4A on my Triton and let it charge overnight,, I really don't know how long it takes but it has fork fine for me on those batteries,,,but they are not duralites!!!!!

Yeah I agree. Although I still like to slowly introduce my new lipos to charge. As far as Duralights go , I think it is more of a precautionary point that the manufacturer states. For me A lipo can go at 1c safely. And again the large packs are limited on the Triton anyways so don't worry about it. Make sure to charge in a fireproof container for peace of mind.

What you guys are saying for a 1C charge rate is correct in most cases of Lithium based bateries, except for Duralite flight packs. You can NOT charge a Duralite flight pack at 1C due the the "Charge Safe" circuit built into each pack. The original question was about charging a Duralite flight pack with a Triton charger.

If you are going to use a lipo safe charger other than the Duralite charger it must be set for 7.4V and a max of 0.4A, reguardless of wether its a 2200mAh or 4400mAh pack.

As I said the info you are giving is correct for most other packs but you are confusing the heck out of this poor guy that is trying to learn by telling him to charge his Duralite pack at 1C. I tried it with my Triton and Duralite packs, and it don't work at 1C. It would not charge reliably till the current was down to 0.4A, witch incidentially is the max output of my Duralite charger.

I'm not trying to flame anyone here, just trying to keep the thread on track.
