Thats fantastic Nikki !
Its great to see you guys ( and Gals) showing so much support for this event. This will surely be one to remember. Just so you know, we'll be bring TWO of those shirts back to the Lewis house. Not only will I be on the flight line, but my WIFE will be flying hers as well.

There were two known problems with a couple of DX6 systems, and 6 or 7 problems with 72MHz systems (don't remember the exact number). They had most, if not all, of the 72MHz channels occupied, as well as some ham frequencies.

BTW, I was flying several planes at SEFF last year on FASST. (Not during the record attempt, however). I've never had a problem, anywhere.

I took my 6EX to work a while back to check it out on the spectrum analyzer. It transmits on 36 different frequencies as I recall. If you flip the "general/france" switch to France, it transmits on fewer frequencies, since some of the 2.4g spectrum is allocated differently in France. Whereas the DSM system can transmit on one of 80 frequecies, and does so on two at one time, this limits it to 40. (Robert said 79/39 and he may be right, I'm quoting what I have heard elsewhere.) The FASST system is frequency hopping, so I suspect the more you have on 2.4g, the slower its response will be as you start dropping frames when two radios happen to hop to the same frequency at the same time. I don't know if the FASST frequencies are the same as the DSM frequencies or not.

At SEFF, they went through a rather thorough range check before flying, where they had everyone spaced ~ 15 feet apart along the whole length of the runway, antennas collapsed and then extended, airplanes on the other side of the runway, to make sure there was no interference. This took a while to perform, as you might imagine. They also had 5 groups to launch separately, each group had their own area to fly (1-high and far, 2-high and near, 3-low and far, 4-middle, 5-low and near). They obviously put a lot of thought and planning into it. It wasn't just 120 pilots all standing together trying to take off at the same time and trying to fly in the same area.

I mention all of this just so you know what was done before, since it worked. I would love to see 100 T28s in the air at once, and I'm really sorry I won't be able to make Nall to be a part of it.

Bob R.
Bob, thanks for the insight into the Futaba 2.4 and the SEFF record procedure.

Frankly, I never even thought about breaking that record. Tha takes a bunch of pre-planning like they did at SEFF. They had that agenda while, to me, this is all about fun. It was simply intended to be more of an impromtu gathering of T-28's much like we do every weekend around NC. We have easily flown 24 together with no issues so I just thought, "why not 40".

The enthusiasm has it evolving toward something bigger than that but as I have repeated several times inthis thread, it isn't too realistic to assume that we are going to have all available frequencies due to the nature of the multible flight lines at Joe Nall.

So, we will see what develops, operate safely in the midst of the situation at hand, and LAUGH A BUNCH!

Wow! This is great, Nikki! I know everyone will be proud to earn theirs! So, to place a bit more emphasis on your announcement:

HORIZON HOBBY IS PROVIDING A FREE PARKZONE T-SHIRT TO THE FIRST 100 PARTICIPANTS
in "Operation Trojan Overcast" at Joe Nall 2009

Bring your PARKZONE T-28 and join in!
There will be magazine coverage of this "happening", too!

Wednesday at 7:00 pm is an unofficial gathering.

But Thursday at 6:00pm is the official mass launch. I'd say let's all converge on the center of the pits near the gazebo on the main runway around 5:00 pm for some brief discussion and a few photo opportunities.

well the guy I was getting mine from bailed on me and FOX will not be able to attend this year so I will either get one there or be out. looks like I will be getting one their. I will also bring a airbrush and equip so if you want yours with a little paint on it look me up. I am not the best
airbursh guy but I can do the basics. all my paint is a laytex base so it will not eat the foam.

I just received my order with the T-28's. I will have 9 Plug n Play's available as well as plenty of props, cowl, wings, fuse, motor mounts, etc. I will be 3/4 down on the left side of the first row of vendors. Will be arriving sometime mid-day on Monday. If anybody needs anything at all last minute before then just let me know and if I have it will bring it as well.

... time to get back to work and load the trailer....

Guys,

I just wanted to clarify, since I have had several PM's about it. We WILL NOT be in the vendor area. Myself and Jarvis will be there, flying ERC airplanes, having fun, etc, etc.. I am bringing only specific parts for individuals that have asked. I am bringing a bunch of the BSR (Black Streak Remover) for the BVM crew, etc. If anything wants anything specific from us, let us know so I can have what you need when I get there. We will be pulling out on Tuesday afternoon, destined for Woddruff!

You are more than welcome to hang out at my tent in the vendor area as long as I have room!
