I think we need a little feedback to understand just what you guys want. I have now had a chance to run this by quite a few TUFF members and some of the concerns needing to be addressed are the actual date, name and size of the event. Most, if not all of those I talked to were emphatic that the name of the event in June should reflect the second annual TUFF Big-Bird 3-D event. I guess maybe we need an official name???? Some also pointed to June 11th - 13th weekend as the most opportune for many since the week after is Fathers day and the week before is a Canton weekend. What do the rest of you think? As far as the size, I have heard about an even mix of; large as possible to keeping it similarly sized as the last event. We need to hear from you guys… One point of contention is the sanctioning of the event. How important is that to us? Ron has offered to act as an official AMA CD and apply the necessary paperwork. By sanctioning the event he will need to submit a few dates and AMA will coordinate/approve those dates depending on date availability of classification and distance separation. If we choose not to sanction we will not need to wait on AMA approval and can just make any date we desire the date…but of course, we will not get the advertising in Model Aviation…we need to consider those things. Ron might illuminate more reason, for and against…so I’ll defer those concerns to him. Any way, I will start this poll out and say; Date: I vote to have the event the weekend of June 11th - 13th…3 days, receive people on Friday with some open flying if attendees are light(ED discretion), Saturday with Big Birds only and Sunday back to some open flying, especially later in the afternoon but as always at the discretion of the ED. Size: I would like to see the event to be about the same size as our last maybe just a bit bigger… 50 pilots or so…and couldn’t care less about the AMA sanction…either way is fine with me. Name: How bout “The Second Annual Super Duper Extreme Flying TUFF Club BIG Bird 3D Event Extravaganza and Fly-arama” …Opps… a little bit of Bruce must of got in there somehow….Hey, what ever you guys want is cool… Now, it’s your turn LOL…Give us your 2 pennies… Gary S., Do you see any problems with that date? |

Mark, no matter how careful you are to choose a date, something, somewhere will be going on the same weekend. It never fails! lol. I can't find any dates posted anywhere for IMAC. I don't see you losing very many pilots even if they did schedule a contest the same weekend. As far as other fly ins, I don't know of any around this area in June. I'll be sure to plan to come over for it. I really need to get over there one Saturday before it starts getting cold and fly with you guys some. I'll keep checking in as you guys get it worked out and pass the word around.

Mark - would this be strictly a 3-D event? No problem if it is. About 40 pilots would be good. How close would it be to the Heatwave? You may could get more. I know Oats could get it in IMAA for advertisement but your pilots would have to join IMAA. That would be your choice. Landing fee? depends on if we feed everyone. Give away anything? Like I said will be glad to help.

The date's ok for avoiding the Heatwave. It's always the last weekend of July.

I don't know of anything else on that date.
It gives a little bit more of a break after the Joe Nall. Although it would have been cool to have it on my birthday again. ![]() Size/Advertising- I don't see the need to have it advertised in the Model Aviation Mag. We had a good turn out last year. I've been talking to some of the guys I know around Houston, Austin, and Central Texas areas. With a thread here on FG and with everyone passing the word around, I don't think we will have any problems getting 50+ pilots. If it's a hassle to get it sanctioned, I would say don't worry about it. Name- How about "Second Annual Slap YO Mama TUFF Flyarama" Now that's some Bruce coming out. Mama if your reading this thread please disregard this post.![]() Just my 2 cents. I'm cool with what ever the group decides.

If the flyin is going to be an annual event, I think it should have the same name each year.
2nd Annual T.U.F.F. 3D Fly-in or T.U.F.F. 3D Fly-in 2nd Annual Sanction, I don't think we need it... Just my thoughts. John Last edited by Tankd; 12-02-2009 at 06:13 PM. Reason: Clarification of name. |

I still didnt get it the name right. From last years posted flyer the name of the event was:
Giant Scale 3D Fly-In How ever many years we have had this event, let it be that. 2nd Annual, 3rd Annual, 10th Annual.... Some reason the Jambore name makes me think of Gilmer.

If my opinion counts for something, we should just continue with the same name and just add another year. i.e 2nd annual , 3rd annual and so on
.lets not confuse others with name changes. I'm with Charles also. dont worry about advertising in M.A. we can gather all the draw we need from others who have attended and our LOCAL MEMBER DEDICATION / THIS T.U.F.F. THREAD. I have a concern that we could get way off track on trying to mirror how other clubs hold events. just let each club put on thier own shows. that's what makes attending other club events so much fun.
