Matt you're one hell of a sales person. You got my mind thinking about Aero-Tech, and needless to say that we have deal with the other owner in the past, and we said that we never would go back to Aero-Tech. Now, just by the way you talk and what you offer, you got me rethinking my standing regarding Aero-Tech.

Good luck with your venture. And I hope I can see some Vid's of your 42% models, in precision and 3D flying.

thanks for the "re-look" Hector! we are COMPLETELY different than the previous owner in every facet. we have a different business plan, different business philosophies, different technologies available to us due to our other businesses and a different desire to make sure that our customers know that we are not going to send out a product until we are convinced that it is the best available and that we can service it 110%!!!!

we are getting close and will be opening the doors shortly.

thanks for the look guys!

YES! We definitely have the Velox and Velox REV II in the stable still and we are now offering them with a much more up to date, CNC'd construction as well and this plane will be significantly lighter than it's predecessor. Both of the sizes.... 35% and 42% will remain in the stable. For those that haven't ever flown the VELOX, it is the perfect point roll plane. This on will find it's way back into the IMAC seen very soon i'm sure!!!!
Are the cnc'd motor boxes going to be tabbed and lightened up a bit?

Matt, aka Smokin. I have been noting your responses to threads and your business venture threads. You seem to have a strong conviction to your integrity in this new business venture and I must say that it is impressive. I hope the best for you and when it comes time for a new plane for me you can bet that I will be looking real hard at your products. Good Luck!

YES!!! that is one of the things that is taking us this extra time to get open for business. we are making ALL of our motor boxes "tab type, plug and play"! it really isn't that much of an issue to change the CAD files to allow for this but we are making sure that the actual pieces go together as they should before we get them onto a customer's build table.

We are always seeking our customer's input on how to make these kits simpler to assemble while still allowing for the best structural integrity in the business. please keep the questions and suggestions coming as i assure you that they are not falling on deaf ears!

thanks,
matt

Right away, we have the new Generation III EDGE 540 in the 105" and the 121". I am currently flying the 121" on a 3W 157 standard version with MTW 110 cans and it is absolutely AWESOME! This airplane should come in around 38 lbs +/- with any similar setup. This EDGE will set a new standard for 3D style planes being able to cross over into the precision scene! it is the most precise EDGE i have ever flown and with the flip of the flight mode toggle, it is an absolute animal on the 3D side!!!!

Just a small question about the plane. I like the looks of it and it looks like it should fly well. Havent ever flown one but would like to see how it flies. But why such a big rudder on the 300?

Please keep one thing in mind... While we are definitely involved in the modifications and small re-designs on a going forward basis, we were not involved in the origional design process.... So, with that said, here is my answer....

This is a BIG plane for it's class. the wing area, wing span, tail feathers and fuse length are all larger than most 40% class 300's. The rudder on this plane, with the depth it has and the size of the counter balance, is VERY authoritative with very little input and deflection. It really makes for a great sequence plane on a very low deflection rate because of the size. Now, flip up the rates and you grab more air than most extras this size and have awesome authority as well. I think that folks that have flown this plane will tell you that there is less rudder deflection needed in 3D attitudes on this plane than on many others and one does not have to have 45+ degrees of throw to accomodate easily sustainable high alpha flight.

I cannot tell you how this plane would fly with a smaller rudder because I have never flown one like that. The 300 Midwing that Aerotech has offered for quite some time now, has definitely fallen into that "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" category for us! We have added the interlocking, lightened motor box and the CNC cut version and now offer it with a better hardward pack, carbon tubes, all 1/16th inch sheeting on surfaces other than the fuse sides, but other than that, we have left this one alone.

Hopefully I was able to somewhat answer your question but just incase more specific info is needed, I have forwarded it on to Rob Joyner of Competition Airframes and I am quite certain that he can share with us the design reasoning behind the size of the rudder.

Thanks for the interest. We look forward to seeing you build and fly one of ours one day.

Matt Mikesh

Cool, thanks for the info. I always just wondered why the rudder was so big. Always was interested why they made it that size. Thanks.
