I reposted some of the important info over on RCU as an Aerotech thread popped up there asking questions about the new owners and since they are having fun at Nall I thought I'd help out.
Now lets talk about the "changes" to the 40% Su-26. Rob can you shed light on them?

hey thanks snap!
we aren't promising to be "perfect"... but we are striving to be closer to that mark each day. as i have said in past posts, we hope to be judged on a going forward basis and because of this, we are not entering the market with our products until we are absolutely ready to do so. we don't want to serve one customer until we are capable of serving all of them!!!! it won't be long folks. we'll have our doors open by early summer and we'll have your building tables full in no time! snap, you were also right on the button about Mr Robert Joyner. our reason for selecting rob as our tech support guru was several fold. 1-integrity and honesty are rob's best qualities 2-he has a building knowledge that rivals all out there 3-he has a close bond with these aerotech airframes and no one in recent times have built more than he has 4-he has the desire to be the best and to help our company get there as well! we will be utilizing rob as much as possible without burning him out. he has a hard time saying "no"!

Sorry it took so long to respond here guys, I've been a little under the weather since I left the Nall. Thank God for Nyquil. I've been popping them like candy. Anyway to answer the first question, the Sukhoi-26 will be going through some new mods. You need to understand that your taking a plane with a 126" wing span and shedding 3 or 4 pounds off. So you have to be careful what you do. First of all the wings are huge and thick so coring will be in full effect. Also the older models where covered in 3/32 on the wings. Now they're 1/16 so that will shed weight all by itself. I plan on coring as much of the tail as possible. If I can get this plane down to 40 lbs even, ready to fly, then I'll be happy. I'll keep everyone up dated when I start. A build thread on this plane will be posted. If you have more question's just ask.

Thanks Matt, but I'm patient and I can imagine you all are running around like chickens with your heads cut off, so I'll wait and pounce when the opportunity arises...

I know EXACTLY what you mean, my yak is 129", and we got it down to 36lbs RTF, and now I know what things need to be different to make it even better. Good luck, I'm sure it will kick ass. |
