Default Gas Cans -Refilling Tanks

Where do you guys get your gas cans at? Do you just make homemade ones or does a company actually make them.

Thanks,

Frank

The best I have seen (and actually use) is the Fisher Fueler..

I have a Jersey modeler. It has a hand crank instead of a electric pump, but it costs about 1/4 of the other.

You can pay over 200 bucks for a nice 5 gallon electric or you can make one yourself for about 75.

WOW, who would have thought a gas can could cost that much.

Thanks for sharing that though.

I don't think your link is correct. That's an auction company.

Build one yourself.

I made my own, cost was half of what you can buy them for, around $110

The pump was bought at mcmaster.com, the battery/switch box was bought at radio shack. The fittings are B&B and the fuel probe is from Tettra.

2+ gallon can from home depot - $8
Fuel Pump from mcmaster - $55 - mcmaster.com part number is 8220K43
Battery Box and switch from RS - $8
B&B Tank Fittings - $8
Tettra Fuel probe $4.50
Misc wire and tubing - $7
Battery - ??

The pleasure of building it yourself - PRICELESS!!

I used an old 6v Nicad I had laying around when I built mine, the pump can handle 12v, but 6v is plenty. I have since replaced the two year old NICAD pack with an A123 battery. Attached are some pictures. I made the box out of some old 3/4 plywood and a 3/4" dowel I had laying around.

Sounds good for those so inclined.

I ordered mine all made up and it was waiting for me at my house when I got back from a long trip overseas. It was real nice being able to charge the battery and start using it instead of waiting for parts to show up in the mail and the time involved in making it.

Sometimes it's not about getting it cheaper, it's about getting it without having to expend time better used elsewhere.

I made my own, cost was about $60 til I changed to a Fromeco 2600 li-ion battery. Unlike some tired old men my stimulus package is apparently lost in the mail so I bailed myself out of hand cranking my arm off and built one my self. It was fun and I kind of marvel at it ever time I use it.
12V Fuel pump from Tower $30
Project box from Radio shack $4
Double pole double throw toggle switch from Radio Shack $4
2 pieces aluminum 1/16 x 4 x 10 $12
An old JR switch/charger jack combo in my stock
2600 li-ion 7.4 volts $30 ( I originally used a 2400 nmh 5 cell pack left over from glow days)
Fittings I took off the manual set up I was using
Pump runs great with 8 volt power supply and easy to charge through JR switch
I custom machined a new SS center piece for the can lid but you can use the existing one and attach your fitting to the plastic (business has been slow, why I made one instead of just purchasing)

For some reason I can't upload picture tonight, will try again tomorrow
Bill

Thanks for the info fellas.

Bill, looking forward to those pics.

Would a 1 gallon can be big enough? I only have one plane, a 50cc Edge, that shouldn't use too much fuel in one day I suspect.
