Default had a nice day until...

well was having a great flying day with my old rusty 33% lanier yak 54 with a ZDZ super 80 for power. lets just say the ride home was a lot more roomy and the dumpster at the field a bit fuller . Had quie a bit more wind today a the field tat i was used to and i wasdoing great up high got a it cocky and alot too low and like a dumb-a$$ decided to turn down wind with hardly any airspeed and the plane reverted to kit form.

My engine came out the worst. broke all 4 mounting ears, exaust port, prop and spinner. I am just a bit worried aout getting the engine fixed as RCS is no more. I know TBM aquired the inventory but will they have the parts I need and someone to do repairs?. oh well I will call them tomorrow and see.

will add some pics tomorrow once my bud can get them sent to me from his camera.

cheers
Don

Dude, that sucks. I never told you what happened to mine. I took off and realized I'd need my shades to land. My friend standing next to me offered to fly the plane while I retrieved the shades. After he told me he had it. I released the radio to him and started toward my truck. Ilooked back just in time to see my plane loosing altitude fast. He was flying the wrong plane. I ran back and pulled the right stick down to get the nose up befor it hit. Lost the plane, saved everything else. Actually, I gave the pieces to a friend who rebuilt it. I let him keep it.

Doppelganger ; Man that blows about your plane, at least you had the engine and electrics to put into another plane.

K.O. ; I talked with Mike at TBM about repairs and it's a total loss on the engine, it will cost more to repair it than a new engine will cost. I'm gonna have a friend tig it back together and see how it comes out. definitly not dishing out $215 for a cylinder and $195 for a backplate, that's before checking the crank to see if it's bent then add labor and misc parts and I could buy a new super 80.

I am in the process of building a Top Flite Giant P51, gonna stick with 50 cc planes. will buy a DL and drop it in the P51 and just sell off everything from the Yak that I wont be using again.

Prolly find a used engine in the various forum ads for a reasonable amount. Takke the best from a used and yours to make one good engine. Cranks can be sent to RC Ignitions for straightening. Heads might be available too.

man please dont get mad but this is about the lamest thing i have ever herd for a crash. iam sorry but i just dont buy it. nobody has to wear thier shades more than me and i could still land my plane without them. as a matter of fact i wouldnt even take my plane off if i couldnt land it without shades. it would never leave the ground if i wasent wearing them if this is a true story ,then you deserved what happened. again iam sorry but i just dont buy it

Wow! I was stupid for taking off into the sun, but did so upwind. My flight would be around twenty minutes long. That late in the day it would have been very hard to see the plane on landing. People turn over their planes to others all the time. We can't all be 100% mistake free like you. True story? Why the hell would I lie about a thing like that? I've heard more incredible stories than mine. And to say I deserved what happened is very rude.

In the future try to refrain from being a Pompous AssMonkey. Also, spell check makes you look like less of a tard.
