G'day everyone, I know that this is not a giant related topic though i need some help. I have a O.S. 91 fs on a S2G Extase .60 size 3D plane. I was just wondering what is a good 3D prop for this engine?
The plane itself probably weighs somewhere around 2 to 3Kg. It is seriously lacking in vertical performance. I have tried about five different props ranging form an 11x6 APC to a 13x10 APC. The 13x10 seams to work the best at the moment at 10,500rpm in terms or veritcal performance. Though it is still not enough to pull vertically out of a hover. Any help would be greatly appricated. Cheers |

Thanks, a 15x6 seams huge. That doesn't put too much load on the engine?

I am running a 15x6 on a 90 Super Tigre in a 3d fun fly.
I tried the 15x4 wide however found that the engine spooled up quickly but the aircraft would not accelerate comfortably out of a hover or high alpha position. The 90 has the torque to pull slightly more pitch and still not suffer from slow acceleration. cheers, Jeff |

My dad has a .91 in showtime 50 swinging a APC 14x6, we tried APC 15x6 or 15x4. Also tried a 14x4, found the performance was the best with the 14x6. JMO

I had a .91FS on a 3D plane and the APC 15x4 W IMO was the best. Went really well good power, fast spool up, was awesome. Hope this helps

Success! The 15x4W works a treat. I only got one flight in, as mother nature was working against me. The wind sock was at 90 degrees and at one stage my plane was flying backwards, so bring on the weekend! Thanks everyone for helping..

OH the wind sucks, i was hoping for another fly last weekend but no luck. When i was out there last weekend Luke was out there but no maiden
That electric has plenty of control though lol should be good to fly. He was talking about trying today, though its a little wet lol. Luke and I are heaps keen for this indoor thing, Luke has sourced some good cheap planes. We went out to the uni gym today to have a gander. Its gonna be awesome! I asked the gym caretaker if we can use the gym and its not a problem I just have to be there with my student ID. Its good the gym is open all day till 9pm and its FREE. Did you find out what was wrong with the engine? When your heading you to maiden your Yak let me know ill be keen to have a look. Don't think im gonna head out this weekend I have heaps of uni work i really have to get done. I'm itching for a fly though! |

You're soft ben, a little bit of uni work can wait a couple of hours for a nice calm fly on sunday morning. You've already got indoor on the brain
