Default Spektrum - JR 2.4G antenna protection

A while ago whilst surfing evil bay, I found a product that was designed to protect the 2.4G antenna's.
It was like a black plastic tube that slid over the entire antenna, yet had a cut out for the top so you could angle the antenna towards you.

Looked like a great to add some protection

Problem is I CANT FIND THE PRODUCT anymore..

Has anyone seen these things or have made something themselves?

cheers!

Just find some plastic tube that fits snugly over the little plastic step at the base of the antenna (there's not a step on the 6100's) and cut it to a good length. Then put a little silicone caulk on the step and push the tube on. Keeps them straight and secure. Small diameter fuel tubing works too.

If you're referring to the Rx , I use a Dubro 36" Rx antenna run and cut it into whatever inch I need. It press fits over the small plastic housing on the outside of the Rx and keeps the antenna at the perfect angle...

However, if you're referring to a TX housing I don't have a clue why you would need one or where you can get it.

Bill D caught that bit about the antenna angling toward the user (I missed it). I figured it was for the RX but it sounds like the TX. Why do you need something for the TX?

Robart Retract air lines. They are flexible but stiff, and will fit directly over the plastic nub on the Spektrum and earlier JR plastic case. They keep the antennas out fairly straight and protect them. Yet its not something you have to glue on or worry about bumping and breaking loose. I run them about 1/4" out further past the end of the antenna wire.

Works great, cheap and you can see through it so you can see if there might be an issue with an antenna, not that I have had one...But its nice to look everything over.

Oh and adds next to nothing in weight.

Thanks for the replies!

I was referring to the Tx. I've seen many people having to replace them due to hair line cracks in the base of the antenna, either due to poor handling, or general damage in transport.

I purchased a JR carry case for 2 Tx's, yet the foam was a little tight on the top & when I closed it, and I cracked the antenna base on a new DSX9.

Thanks for the tips for protecting the Rx antenna too! That wasn't my problem, yet now that Ive had a look at my 5 different spektrum antenna's I'm using, I think I will do this mod to all of them (escpecially for my profiles) where everything is quite a snug fit in the wing.

cheers
