HI guys,my friend is looking at a lainer edge540 with a 87" span, and putting a da 50cc on it.My question is that we fly at about 4000 ft,will the da 50 have enough power to do 3d.The plane will weigh about 16.5 pounds.Any info would be great.

I think it will....... just make sure you dont run "more octane" as this will adversely affect your performance.

I'm pretty sure there's a build thread on that plane/engine combo, I'll look for a link.

I used to have this same plane. even at 4000 ft you should have no performance issues at all. it was a great flying plane , when it was alive.

I am thinking a DLE 55.. Believe it or not. It has an Evolution 45 on it now with a 22x8 prop.. It flys great.. Just not enough power to hover.. I am going with one servo per Ail 8611 putting pull pull on the rudder with 8611 and I changed all batts to Life!!
taking the choke servo off also. Killing some weght.. It's got about 5 oz of lead in the front. I am taking about 1 oz out at a time.. Now I have just a touch of down to maintain level inverted!! |

Mine had a conversion 60cc at first, flew good but no hovering. I put a DL 55 on it and WOW whole new plane, rolled like a SOB! I miss that bird.

The DLE 55 is AWSome on this plane!!!
I changed the plug after it would not run anymore after a 1/2 tank of gas.. Got the NGK CM-6 and she runs like a top!! Has more power NEW than my DA50 had broke in.. So Far. I am impressed with the motor and I have aLWAys loved the plane.. |
