I ordered a new Pitts S12 50cc during the week and am expecting the goods to arrive sometime next week.
If the cowl allows it, I am planning to use an RCGF 50cc twin for power. The supplier told me that this is an OEM version of the Aeroworks 50cc Python. We will wait and see if this is the case but the specs are: Top wing span: 1780mm Bottom wing span: 1688mm Fuselage length: 1600mm Weight: 3800 G (not include engine and radio) Wing area: 105 D㎡ Engine: 45-53cc Gasoline engine This will be my first setup of this size and I am wondering that to do for servos, power distribution etc. I will post photos of the actual kit when I get it. Here is a photo of the plane from the suppliers website: |

The Pitts is here. All was good except the canopy came down broken but the supplier is posting me a replacement.
The plane looks great ! The covering on this model is Monokote and has been very well applied. Better than most ARFs I have seen. Because I will be using all Digital servos and there are 4 for the wings split into 2 channels, does anyone in Aus know where I can get matchboxes or similar to split the channels properly? Or are there better ways? Rather than the RCGF twin, I'm toying with using this engine: http://www.modelaviation.com.au/cata...products_id=35 |

I had one of the first shipment of Aerorworks Pitts Pythons... and I can tell you, this one is NOT a copy of the AW bipe. The rudder on your plane is shaped different, and yours also apparently has a removable canopy.. the AW plane allows access only where the bottom wing connects to the fuse. The rudder on your plane may have some airfoil built into it, and the AW (and a real Pitts) do not. It's hard to tell from just one photo what other changes may be in there, but for sure, it's not an "OEM" flavor of the AW.

Mine has a full removable canopy and the cabane arrangement is also quite different. Regardless, it's a lovely kit and should make for a nice flying plane. The build also seems to be quite good. I am going to run some CA into glue joints regardless, just to be on the safe side. I haven't started putting it together yet because I'm trying to get together the funds for the engine and other expensive bits. The canopy was also broken but it is being replaced. I saw on the mail tracking website that has been sent to my local mail distribution centre so with a bit of luck, I should get it tomorrow. I may set the plane aside for a while anyway because I have too many half-built and un-built in the garage and should probably concentrate of getting them out of the way ! |

Hi Jijong.
No bad habbits with this aircraft. Very slable and lovely to fly. It does all the aeros that an aircraft of its period does. It's not overly good for 3D work as the Ailerons are to far out. The TMM53 has enough power to pull this thing vertical. Landing it's just a case of line it up, reduce power and to comes in like a trainer. Just remember to flair as it's just over 7kg. Only issues are the wing wires and undercarrage. Wing wires you do need. They have to be strong for they do a job and I've broken them on some harder aeros. Undercarrage is only fibre glass and is not stong. I've replaced mine with Aluminium. When I got mine it was the only one I could find at the time. There is now a wide range of Pitts12 available. I,ve your after 1 PM me and I can help you out. Cheers Grossy |
