You would be surprised at how affordable a good all composite slope machine goes for. Around $350 to $450. With some good skills, a good landing zone and a little luck, you really don't have to crash that often. It is really a blast if you are at a good location with a few crazy friends and a truck full of different airplanes. You can go the EPP foam route at first, crash every flight and still keep flying. They 'bounce' off the ground. The guys in California and the North West have got it made for premium flying sites and conditions.
