The only way I was happy with the H9 27% 260 was flying it on a Saito! I flew many others on gas setups and they were all too heavy and all did exactly what happened to yours. Stick with any of the good brands out there REALLY meant for a 50cc motor and you will be happy.

be it that i am the Aerotech guy i should probably be telling you to jump up to a 100cc airframe and build one of mine!!! LOL BUT, realizing that you are in the 50cc market... it is pretty difficult to beat anything by mr. hinson at EF and ben at 3D Hobbyshop. these are great planes and they are backed by great service!!!! pick one of these companies and you won't be disappointed.
that's just my $.02.... (you should still build one of our airframes as well!!! lol)![]() matt

Hey everyone...... Thanks for all of the replies. As for the H9 260, it would have been a great airframe with either a large saito, or a 40cc, but with the DA50 in it, it just seemed to be a brick sometimes, and landings were real difficult as there were some horrible slow speed tendencies.
I love the EF Extra, and I think that that might be my #1 choice, but I will take a good look at the others that were suggested. If I can find something that flys half as well as the H9 Carden Yak that I have, I think that I will be ok. Thanks again for all of the suggestions... |

The SU26 is a sweet plane. It is Scott's design, sold by other distributors now that DawghouseRC technically is gone. I flew the original prototype SU26. Its nice. The DawghouseRC Yak 55sp flies really, really good as well. I fly IMAC as well as 3D with it. It is on sale to deplete Scotts inventory at a very low price.

As for a 50cc frame, I would go with one of these 3 if it were me: 1) EF yak (lightest and probably best flying of the 50cc yaks, but ***** if you ask me) 2) AW Ultimate (I love ultimates, haven't flown this one yet, but am aching to buy one) 3) AW yak in the red/white scheme (not as light as EF, but built strong and looks great)

When the Wild Hare Ultimate was still in production it was one tough plane and a 3D machine with a DA 50. There are honestly more good choices than bad now. The ones I have enjoyed in 50cc:
Extra's from both Wild Hare and Aeroworks in 50cc - I beat the heck out of both and was not able to break them. Cap from GP - for how cheap it is man its awesome on a 50cc engine a sweet flying plane for the $$ I have owned both and both were awesome. I will say its hard in the 50cc range to say one is so much better; after I started flying 35-40% they all felt twitchy. Again the 27% 260 from H9 was not a bad plane if you put a Saito on it. I could do nearly stationary rolling harrier elevators. I mean it was a blast to fly, but, Saito's can burn through glow fuel like no tomorrow. Your best bet is to ask a few friends if you can fly their planes first. Get a good feel for whatever planes you are thinking about. A sort of test drive. Setup makes a big difference also. |

Ask Cspaced about his PAU SU-26. It does look like a very sweet plane! Maybe I will bug him for a test flight.

I do not want anyone to think that I did not like the H9 Extra 260, because it was quite the opposite. I absolutely loved that plane, and it flew AWESOME!!! It just was a little small on the wings compared to the rest of the class.....

Hi
Most of the suggestions are ARFs and they are sure good flyers. I am a builder so I would suggest one of the kits that would give a fine plane that you can custom to fit your needs and set the appearance just like you want it. Lots of choices for the da 50r. Carden makes the Cuda that is top of the line. CA models makes a couple of fine planes ( that is Columbo Anderson's company) and there are others. Some you can put together no matter what your background and having a pro do it will give you the exact plane you want and a long life span (as long as the dumthum leaves you alone). some thoughts ---- www.dream-rc-airplanes.com |
