No problem there, just drilled for new american bolts and installed as usual. Second issue I ran into is that the tail wheel mount is recessed into the fuse, which is nice, BUT, the supplied tail gear was too long to fit into the recess. agin no big problem, just a cut on the bandsaw and round the edges with the grinder.

Next item was to start assembling the tail feathers. this went very easy with the supplied hardware and some common sense. when it was time to mount the horiz.stabs to the fuse I had two issues, first was that there was no hole to run the servo wire into the fuse, and second, the tabs that hold the stab on were too big for the precut notch in the stabs. both of these were easy fixes but took some time to evaluate the best approach.

I must say that despite the issues I have come acrost I still am happy with the purchase, and am not "b!t" at all. I then proceded to mount the engine. I am running a DL-55 and it bolted up nice and easy. I am going to go over the firewall with glue and pin the firewall for added strength.

My next issue that really got my attention was the fact that the wing retention is by rubber bands. I do NOT like this, so I am going to drill out the wings and install a 1/4-20 blind nut to accept the new nylon retention bolt. to make this work I will have to make a ply plate to mount in the fuse for the bolt head to seat on. this is an item that should be addressed my the mfg. in my opinion. more on the new wing mounting system later.

That's as far as I got last night, hopefully I can get some time to work on it tonight or this weekend.

this has been corrected and all are now thumb screws for retention..We had to buy out the existing inventory from the supplier who was taking direction from the prior dealer.. this was the fist thing we changed.. ALL are now as they should be.. in todays times you would have to be a little crazy.. ok alot crazy to produce planes with rubberbands. ALL done here.

Glad to hear that DeWayne. It's a simple fix to do. I just cut out some mounts on my CNC when I make the fuel tank mounts. I have been swamped lately but I have more pics and have made progress on the plane. The gluing, pinning of the firewall is done. the ignition system is mounted along with the opto kill and switch. the fuel system is complete. and I am working on wiring up the 42% 2-pac system and figuring out where I want to put the throttle servo.

Being that this is my first Yak, do these planes tend to come out nose heavy or tail heavy? I will post pics as soon as i get a chance.

DeWayne, RCPilot82,

When I saw this Yak (in your original product announcement here on FG) I thought it looked great except for the 2 servos per wing. Is that still the way the are? Or has this been changed in the latest version?

If I got one off the site this week, would I get the rubber band version or the screw version? I might not be as creative as RCPilot82!

The new versions are all supposed to have one servo per aileron from what I understand. I am undecided on if I will modify mine or not. I have made lots of progress on the plane but haven't found any time lately to post the pics or continue the work. It's supposed to rain for a few days here so hopefully I can update the thread and make some headway on this project.

What about the servos per wing? I suppose I could use 2 lower cost servos if that is the way it is.

Ok, I am not dead, just had a lot going on lately. I plan to make more progress this week. Here are a few pics of the 3w tank installation. I always wanted to see what the hype was about them, so I shelled out the $25 for one. Nothing exciting, above and beyond, or IMO worth it. So, Lesson learned. Gotta love the CNC for making mounts and stuff like this.

Ok, Well this really is not the place to post an issue like that given that this is a build thread (or assembly thread for craven). I have talked to dewayne a few times after my purchase and never had a problem. have you tried his e-mail? dewayne@knoxhobbies.com If you wish to ask questions un-related to the plane, please start a new thread. Thanks
