Active Lurker here but have been flying 18 years or so.
I thought I would post this here other than RCU. I have had 3 moki 2.10s and we love them here. I learned quite a bit about their operation from just use and have deemed they sometimes are crabby but when run right they are monsters. Every one of 4 2.10s that myself and other flyers have had have had the damn carb stop barrel screw break off where it tapers. We even went to a #10 steel bolt and it still sheared over time resulting in the carb barrel falling out and dead sticks. Admitedly none of the 3 of us have ever balanced our props ((( Insert Beating Here)))) but im not convinced that is the reason. Could this be a design issue, and better yet.. how can we fix this issue. I can only assume iso mounts and a balanced prop might cure this? Does anyone else have any issues like this? Thanks in advance! Last edited by YogoBlue; 05-26-2009 at 02:23 PM. Reason: spelling |

Had a 1.80 and 2.10. Neither of them had that problem. The low needle dial always came loose no matter what o-rings I bought. Also the high needle would develop air leaks. Also would come loose. You're not going to want to hear this but with all the above including dinking with Cline regulators I finally went to 50cc gas engines...and a little larger airplanes to support their extra weight.

I have had the 2.1 engine with the same problems.
I think that it's the little things that make us different. These "little" things made me land several times on dead stick. What I can say is that they work awesome and to start them it's a dream come true to all modelers.

I ran moki 180's for years and never once had any problem. Ran red max 10% in all of them. The only dead stick I ever had was from running out of fuel. The use of the screw to retain the carb barrel is a pretty common method of holding the carb together.. I would think that something is going on if you have had 4 fail? Maybe the 210 has a bit of a harmonic going that is fracturing them. Maybe you should try balancing the prop?

People can say what they want. Over 8-9 years that I ran them, they ran perfect on 10% red max. I still have a 180 laying around, cant bear to part with it, but 5 flights per gallon takes the lead out of my pencil to run it.

I've got a Moki 180 at least 13 years old. Best 2-stroke engine I have ever owned. Haven't flown it in a while but it has never given any trouble at all. Cannot imagine anything cracking, breaking and certainly no shearing. To shear a bolt takes a LOT.
