Guys,
I am not on here much but was needed some replacement parts for my Lanier Stinger that was kit built way back in the early 90's. The Lanier website is gone now and looks like Towerhobbies is carring their line of stuff. However, there are no listing for the Stingers! Are they completely out of production now? Is there a vendor that you can purchase parts for the stinger (ie: canopy, turtledeck, wings) Thanks, Tim |

Ken,
Thanks for the site. They have everything except for the wings. Anyone know where I could get a set of wings for the 84" stinger? Tim |

Digging up an old one here. I got a giant stinger from a friend today, and I was wondering if anybody has a manual for it?

My friend was smart and made the wings 2 piece. Very easy to transport that way. Very tail heavy, so I will see if I can fix that. Mostly wondering the CG on it.

Start with your CG 5 1/2" back from the leading edge. The Stinger has a short nose so, it needs a heavy engine up front to get that balance point. It was designed around the G-62. That's what I run. You could put something like a ZDZ 80 up there now.........I think it weighs about the same as the G-62..................if you want a rocket ship.

If anyone is within (reasonable) driving distance of Sioux Falls SD, I have the Giant Stinger for sale for first reasonable offer. Cowl was broken when I got it, and I did what I could to fix it. New ones are available from Fiberglass specialties, or this one is still pretty good.
I flew it for a little bit last year with a DLE-55 (and a little lead in the front). Hovers at about half throttle, but does not snap. Just a little too stable for my type of flying. Not looking to make anything on it, I'd rather give it to someone who would enjoy it, at a reasonable price then have it sit here. |
