Default RCS/SV 26cc

I just purchased this engine and was wondering if anyone else has had experience with it and comments on this engine. I am trying to find a plane that will fly well with this and fit. It has a rear mounted carb.
Any help on this would be most appreciated. I am going from glow to gas and am new to these type engines.

Thanks,

juicesqueezer

I have it on a Seagull Ultimate 90, and it flies ok, doesn't fly the wings off as I had hoped. So, I too, am looking for a great plane for this engine. I will say the engine runs strong and starts after a couple flips.

Thanks for your reply on your ultimate with this engine. I am still looking as well. No luck yet! I do think that the model industry is coming out with more in this range, so I am still hoping.

You're welcome. I am looking for another plane for my SV 26cc too. I have looked at these planes, but haven't been able to find much if people are happy with a 26cc in the nose. I want something that really pulls and can do 3d.

73" magic hand yak - http://www.troybuiltmodels.com/items/MHYAK-73.html

I am thinking this isn't enough engine for those planes... Anyone have any thoughts?

Thanks!

I have one in a Goldberg Ultimate. It will hover at a little over half throttle with a Bambula 16x8. I have the Bambula 18x8 that was recommended when I bought it, but I ran it on the ground for a few minutes and it got hot. It's a bigger prop over all (thicker and bigger hub diameter) than the 16x8. I just picked up a 16x6 Zinger from the LHS to try on it. I know it's a paint stirrer, but I needed it right now. I would put in on profile with some good wing area for all 3D. Keep the weight at about 9 pounds and it would be perfect.

It seems to fly my Ultimate pretty well. It will go straight up until I can barely see it. How much does yours weigh and what prop are you using? Did you tune it?

I have a Vess 18x6 on it now and have broke it in to factory specs. I am ready to switch over to synthetic oil and will re-tune it. I will let you know how that goes, maybe i should try a different prop too? Thoughts?

CA$HEY, nice flying! What peak models extra do you have? I might think about picking one up. How much did you move the timing on your SV?

I tried one of these motors on a Wildhare Baby Extra, it was definitely not enough power to do much 3d. The power to weight ratio of this motor isn't close to the Evolution 26.

The Evo uses a tuned silencer or tuned pipe to get the power it makes. Put a pitts muffler on it and it's a turd.

The evolution 26 on my plane is using a wrap around pitts muffler, not a tuned pipe. It definitely has a better power to weight ratio than the sv26 that I tried. It would be even better with a tuned pipe, but it's not exactly a turd with the pitts (or if you class it as a turd then the sv would have to be whatever is even worse. ). I'm not a big promoter of the evolution but I offered it as a comparison since I own both and have flown them on the same airframe.
