This is a pretty common and very powerful/effective setup being used in 2 Meter F3A ships: Axi 5330/F3A motor - $269 Axi 8mm prop adapter - $15 Castle Creations Phoenix 85HV controller - $170 PolyQuest /Thunder Power/FlitePower 5S-5000mah battery x2 (series for 10s) APC 20-13 electric prop - $15 (best in light winds) APC 20.5-14 electric prop - $15 (best overall prop) Complete power set up with 1 set of batteries approximately $700 Chargers and power supply: Thunder Power 1010 charger - $199 Thunder Power 210V balancer - $99 Alternative charger setup : CellPro 10S with integrated balancer - $189 2ea 6 pin balance nodes to fit your packs - $15 ea Iota 55amp RV power supply - $110 from various sources on EBay 4mm to 6mm gold bullet connectors (connect motor to speed controller) Deans Ultra connectors (connect battery packs to controller) Optional: 12V deep cycle marine battery - $110 from Sears - will allow up to 5 flight battery charges. ( it can be recharged by Iota power supply above) or 110V generator - $150 to $700 Basic Castle Controller settings: (these are the important ones) Battery - 30V (don't use auto-lipo setting) timing - low frequency - low sensitivity - insensitive This and more data for what you are doing can be had readily at the electric F3A site. Hope this helps! ![]() |

Federico,
I much prefer the Plettenberg 30-10 Evo to the Axi. The Plettenberg is lighter, and I feel smoother and more powerful. The Pletty can also handle larger props, I think the Axi only likes up to a 20x13. The Castle Creations speed controller is a good choice, I think you have to make sure the timing is correct in the settings otherwise the motor is not happy. I know the Jeti 90 Opto works well. Also, the Rasa 20x15 props are a great choice as they are a lot stiffer than the APC props, less torquey, and quieter. The blades are available from ICARE-RC, the same distributor for the motor in North America, and East R/C makes a hub. As for a charger, FMA Direct CellPro 10S- bar none. This is a more expensive setup than the aforementioned Axi, however I think you'll be a lot happier with it, especially with an airplane as large as the Osmose. Where are you from? Buena suerte! |

I agree,
The Plett system is a big jump over the AXi system. If you want the best in all around efficiency, there are not many better.
