Default New website is now up.

Hey Giants,

Well as some of you know, we've been working on a new website for a little while now. Its not tied to flyinggiants.com, but I know from being a member on here and the previous site for around 4 years now, there are a lot of you that are also into horses, or you may have a spouse into horses.

The new site is: www.hearts4horses.com. Please stop over and take a look. I need everyone's feedback on changes and or edits they'd like to see. So please tell us what you think.

Thanks

Yea, they do tend to eat a little more than r/c airplanes, but I still like to throw the sticks around whenever I can. If I get an opportunity, I'll try and video my big gelding watching me land in the pasture. Last time he stood right beside me like a spotter or something. I had to lean out to see around his head so I could land.

Any one have any suggestions about the website?

I just went through the whole site. Looks very well done. Sorry I can't really see anything I'd change.

Constructive criticism:

1. If you know how to "edit the page source" (I realize you might not) I would remove this meta tag:

<meta name="GENERATOR" content="Virtual Mechanics SiteSpinner V2 270f - Trial Only">

2. You have far too many keywords and far too many similar uses of words (i.e. horses). Right now what you're doing is called "keyword spamming" and it will hurt you far more than help. Do some Google searches on something like "keyword tutorial" or "keyword best practice" for specific advice. Going off memory, rule of thumb is about 20-25 unique keywords or phrases separated by commas.

Good effort otherwise. You'll only get better and better with practice. My advice for next time around... if you want something easy to edit / maintain with lots and lots of add-on and free stuff, then check out Wordpress. It's free blog software that's generally being used these days to create entire websites (that look nothing like a blog). It's entirely web based and pretty easy to use once you know the basics. Many hosts will install it for free.

Good luck -

Wayne

Great site. I too am a rc/ horse junkie. Nothing quite like the smell of horse sweat and leather. Kind of like gas fumes and smoke oil. They are amazing creatures are'nt they. I had a gelding too that seems a lot like yours. He always needed to be in the middle of what was happening if he were near. Lost him to a lightning strike 7 years ago. Very sad day. Anyway, great site maybe it will give horse lovers a place to go as FG has for R/C and giant airplanes.

Wayne: Thanks for the advice. I will attempt to make the changes you have mentioned...although I am new at this...I think I know how to do that. Thanks also for the heads up on the keywords. I have had several conflicting pieces of advice on this, but I don't believe the others are as knowledgeable as you about it. I will parse the KW list down sometime this weekend if I get a chance.

AppyDriver: First off, sorry to hear about the lightning strike, and the loss of your gelding. Always a sad day when your heart gets torn up like that. If you can, please shoot us a picture of him and I'll post it on the website, or if you want, you can join and post your own. Our goal is to create a place for horse people that is similar to the vibe here on FG. May take a while, but we're in it up to our eyeballs, so it's going to be here. Any suggestions you or your family think of for anything on there please PM me.

Thanks again guys,
Bill

Wayne: thanks for the headsup and the advice. I think I have the how to down, but we'll see.

AppyDriver: Sorry to hear about the lightning strike thing. Always a bad day when your heart get torn up like that. Send me a photo of your gelding and I'd like to post it on the site, or go to the forum and post it if you'd like. Also, anything that you or your family thinks of that could or should be changed, please shoot me a PM, either on heart4horses.com (username: Bill) or here on FG.

JoeAirport: Thanks for checking it over.

Bill - not too shabby!! Nice work!

Go into your VB admin, there is an option under templates. Look for the template width. Change it to about 800px. Right now, it looks like you have it set at 70%. That will fix your forum alignment issue.

Hope all is well brotha!

Thanks Max, made the change. I have a couple of other questions that I will PM you about. I think they have to do with the image manager, but not sure. Thanks for the help. Oh and BTW, cute kid!
