I have just weighed one of the wing panels with aileron, boost tab , but no servo, wiring , covering etc. and it came out at 1.6 lbs...
The wiring is also light because I am using only two copper wires for the power and the signal is with Fiber optics which is much lighter then copper. But the sheeting is 3/32" contest balsa, so not only light but also delicate. Roger

A couple questions if I may:
Is the plan on this to run one aileron servo and another dedicated servo for the boost tab itself? I"m just checking to see where this is heading. Being 40%, what is the actual physical size of these ailerons. Typical with my builds ailerons run roughly 4 to a 7 inch taper with 48 to 54 inch on the span depending on the application and plane. Also if I might ask about the contest grade sheeting in 3/32 you used, what is the weight per sheet ("3/32x4x48) you typically use in the wing sheeting, do you weigh your sheeting? I would expect a typical kit core (solid foam sheeted wing) at the stage your at in the photo's to be in the same ball park as the weights your posting or there abouts..And last, what will the total servo count be on this plane excluding the throttle?? Thanks, I just got a few wonderments with what I see here and I am looking at this as a different approach. Walt

Tony, Yes we are just finishing off the molds and perfecting them. I just sent a finished product to Jack and have been in talks with him over the plans sales and offering parts for the plane as well as wheel pants etc. I am going to offer cowls at $85 to start plus shipping and $55 for the pants Shipping to Jack was $27 for the cowl As for payment. Check / Cash / Paypal is fine by me... Will be making an official statement an ads on RCUNIVERSE and our website next week!! Walt, I will have to do some measuring for you. As for the weights, the reason I do the wings this way instead of solid foam, is first they are easier to do, should be lighter, stronger , and much easier to do all the innards, but that is just a preference. As for total servos for the airplane , I use one servo per aileron, one per elevator , and one for the rudder. I do not use a dedicated servo for the boost tab. When building the wing, you can cut the ailerons the size you want , I cut mine short as compared to the normal 3D type airplane, since I don't like 3D, then don't need. Hope this helps. Roger

To TEAMFLATOUT,
Being a southern gent, I find you are degrading the SOUTH by your snide remarks. Columbus,Ga is not very far from here, down by AUBURN,I suspect. Why don't you go somewhere and pull your pud,or something. I find the remarks to be offensive to no avail. Leon Snider Pinson,Al 35126 |

A few more detail work on the wings, more so on the ailerons, and boost tab, As you are well aware by now, this is not an ARF nor a Kit
, lots of hands on and elbow grease but not hard to do.Roger

I haven't been posting much lately because building two airplanes at the same time there would be too much redundancy. but I assure I am going forward , the second wing panel is nearly done and the 3rd wing panel top has been cut, I will sheet this this week and get ready to cut the other side.
Roger
