Don,
Jack's design of the Laser is quite simple and very effective, that's why I love it.

I flew the 34% this summer with the Wren 44 turbo prop engine and after I was finished with the AWE of the engine, I found this airplane to be a great flyer, and am looking forward to the 40% now.

You will enjoy the plane, I am retired so can devote full days to the build. Enjoy. Enclosed are some more pix of the build. #1, the vent overflow tube is installed, and the hatch cutout can be seen art the upper right of the pix. #2, Out of focus shot of where the fuel tank overflow/vent tube exits, just in front of the tail wheel. #3, Completed the bottom structure, including the rceivers and batteries access hatch. On this model the receivers and batteries will be half way between the wing and stab, and the rudder and elevator servos will be in the rear. This is mainly for balance, as I really do not like to subjsct these servos to the gunk back there. Ran out of glue today, so it will be next week for any more pictures.
Cheers

Here is a picture of the landing gear install.

Found some glue, and with trusty Duco, have fuse to this point. #1 -- Hatch on bottom access to receivers and batteries. #2--- Finished box under hatch. #3--- Tube from rec. box to aileron and engine servos. #4 -- Tube from box to elevator and rudder servos, also a better shot of the fuel tank overflow tubing. Not many questions on this detail, how come? #5-- Deck finished , with a clear view of the tube from the rec. box. #6 -- The
rudder servo mount ishown at the rear of the fuselage. Elevator servos are on the other side.

Roger, I finished my cowl and thought that I would post the picture. I have to tell that a 2 piece cowl makes baffling sooooooooooooo easy.

I like how you did away with the multi-bolt hub...

I have been working on the firewall and finally finished it. I installed it with 2 degrees right thrust.

I could not just copy the 44 installation because the 54 mounts quite different . So measure 22 times, cut once

Wings are great. The ready to fly weight of one wing is 41.5 oz. Using 3/32 contest balsa saved some weight but the 1/16th is what every one is using so I left some weight on the table. But your other wing building idea's were spot on. Nylon anti rotation all tread has worked with out any problem. I had some doubts but it works.

This plane is so light when it lands that if or when I build another one I would shoot to save at least 2 lbs. You and I are the same weight and my motor is lighter, so that means I built heavy.

Thanks for all your help.

Here is a part of my scratch built collection. An Oak tree came through the roof of the garage and this is part of the results.
