Default 1/3 WM Clipped Cub Assembly

1/3 WM Clipped Cub Assembly (That's for T-Bob)

I got this model from www.buyrc.com a couple of weeks back. I had hoped to have it flying last weekend but I fell behind in the recover project of my PAU 37% Ultimate.

Here's what you are in store for.

I had hoped for a Blue one but the price was right on the "in stock" red one.
It arrived by Greyhound shipping which did a great job getting it here. This thing is huge. It call for a 80cc motor but I didn't have any of those. I did have a 3W106 so in it goes. The cool thing is that with this motor I had to cut the cowl sides out so the cylinders would fit. So instead of glueing on the fake engines I get to have the real thing sticking out.

The ailerons and elevators come with pre-glued hinges. The horiz and vert stabs need to be glued in place though. On the side it has a functioning door that is 2 piece (opens up and down).

Here's some specs

Wing Span : 120 in / 3050 mm
Wing Area : 2402 sq in / 155 sq dm
Flying Weight : 27.5 lbs / 12500 g
Fuselage Length : 91.5 in / 2330 mm
Engine Required : 80cc gasoline engine
:
Radio Required : 4-channel radio w/ 6 servos

I'll be using 8411's throughout the plane and a SF EQ system since I have one already.

Pea, I had the 144" super cub. Great plane.
Watch the landing gear... only issue I had at all with the plane.
It's softer than lead.
And with the big cub tires it will bend quite easily.

I would spring for these.. it would be well worth it.

Very nice, are they made of Gold? I'm also using the Dubro 1/3 scale cub wheels and not these cheap inflatables as I didn't trust them at all.

I'll deal with the cheap gear for now though. Maybe later I'll upgrade. I plan to use flaps on this bird and to land it slow and easy.

Now that is an idea! Though the 106 won't have an issue making it look like I have JATO

I have a Kroma 100 in mine. Weighs ~27lbs with smoke. Neat plane. Have you seen this video?

That is not my plane in the video. I can't take credit for that flying. It's one of my favorite Cub Videos.

No the stabs do not come off. Retail from WM is $749.

I got mine for a little less than that.

Oh, nice floats. I'll be picking up the Balsa USA floats for mine as well.

Got the wings done today. I went and replaced all the hardware that came with the plane. I've found that the struts can stay on the plane with padding on the end so they don't rub the wing. Makes storage much easier. I also got one of the surprises for the plane today. I need to make a contraption for the plane but it shouldn't be too difficult. My pilot should be arriving soon as well. Goal is to still have it done for July 4th. I've been a little sidetracked with cleaning the homefront (trying to renew the lease when the owner shows up Friday) and then we had to put our cat down today also. Cat was 16yrs old and acted like a dog. I've known the cat for the past 13yrs (it was the wifes).
