I'm no longer doing an earnest build thread. But I did work on the plane just a bit. I installed the control horns, rudder and aileron servos, and that's about it. I've been working double shifts. It's hard to get anything done.

On another note, I emailed Tony at Pilot RC and told him I was still upset about the DHL fiasco. When it first happened Tony offered right away to replace the fuse. I told him I'd just repair it. But I totally lost the "New Plane" feel. I still had a beautiful plane, but I couldn't get past the damage. Later I noticed the canopy had dents in it like the box was compressed against it. It makes sense when looking at the damaged box.

Well,Tony returned my email right away and said he would build another fuse, cowl, and hatch right away. Plus, I get to keep the damaged one. I knew I made the right decision when I went with Tony and PRC. He's determined to do it right and to make sure his customers are satisfied. So as long as Tony is selling planes, I'll buy from him.

Tony is a great guy to deal with even though DHL screwed the pooch on your shipping. But I am happy to hear he took care of you let's see some of the other mfg step up. Way to go Tony.

I'll be posting some pics and sharing my thoughts on the plane. So far The plane has lived up to it's billing. Besides the damage, my only gripe is the rudder wire being too short. But it does slide through all the hinges. I may just secure it from the top. Or get some more piano wire.

My brother came by a couple days ago and went gaga over the plane. You really have to see it to know the sheer size of it. It is a very very large 35% plane. But it will only come in at about 28lbs. Sweet. The outboard servo bay has string attached to a piece of wood for pulling the servo leads through. The inboard does not. But it is not needed. The wings seem very sturdy. I'll weigh them later on if anyone is interested.

My brother gave me a complete smoke system ( big brothers are really cool) so add that to my list of equipment. Seems easy enough. I havent decided on placement yet. That time will come. Well, thats it for now. I'll edit this post tomorrow to include lots of pics. I apologize in advance to those who may be put off by a lot of pictures. Stay tuned.

The pilot that Tony sells is much too small for the plane. This was covered in Scags' thread. Tony is aware of this. I'll use it anyway because it was painted to match the plane. There is no instrument panel, but I didn't expect one. Any tips? I need it for IMAC. A few days ago I put the wings on to see if there would be a gap along the fuse. Nothing. The fit is perfect.

I wasn't too sure about the yellow covering when I first saw it. You can see through it. The wood grain is very noticeable. My fault because I chose a different yellow than Tony usually uses. But I now like the wood grain look. Also, the hatch sits flush on the fuse.

The cowl is really a work of art. When installed there are no visible screws. For a single piece cowl, this is now common, but for a two piece it's a really nice touch. The top and bottom are connected by metal hooks (will have pics in the morning) and when locked into place it is very secure. I think a total of 7 bolts secure the cowl to the fuse. 4 at the bottom, 3 at the top. They are fairly easy to get to. So removing it isn't really a hassle.

Dude, what the heck. My cowl has to be drilled for screws or made to a one peice. That would have been nice to have.

I am glad that Tony is on the ball to improve this plane as we go. Very nice....

Yeah, he's in touch with the pulse of the forum. He's already made a few changes in design. His planes will continue to get better. I'm hoping to see the 260 fly here in Albuquerque. A member here has one, and might attend the contest.

Here is hoping DHL will ship more safely to Montreal, Canada.
Let us know if it arrived safely. Also, feel free to post pics and whatever.

Okay, I installed the pants and the engine. I forgot to put the cuffs on. I'll do it later, not very worried about them right now. The engine appears to line up perfectly. I'm very satisfied with it.

Here are pics of the pants installation. The cuffs have to be cut from the mold. A strip of rubber or some kind of material is included to dress them up.
