T Bob may be an arse but I got to agree with him on this one. Go to the hardware store and get some 1/4 20s and nylon inserted nuts.

None close enough that have what I need. This was only a mock up to get the engine mounted. The bolt isn't threaded all the the way to the top, which is why the spacer is used. I'll eventually get the right bolts. The plane isn't close to completion anyway. But I understand your thought process.
I gave t-bob crap because he's very insulting. Thanks for posting. I hope you're enjoying the thread.

T, Bob get lost unless you plan on making usefull posts. I'm sure that the picture was taken for the post here and that the correct bolts would be installed when they could be gotten. Some people, even me have to drive 20-25 minutes to get to a hardware store. Ever think that could have been the case? Probably not because your an . JMO

Thanks Daniel,
Every point in your post is spot on. Last time I drove to Home Depot and Lowes I could not find what I needed. There are other stores but it's a longer drive. I'll make it eventually.

I apologies when I saw the pic I was thinking wow, but now I get it. I enjoy all the threads. I fly at a very small club and when I started flying large scale planes no one here new anything about them I had to learn everything on my own. Threads like this were a huge help when I was a newbie. That being said I think T Bobs entertaining unfortunately sometimes its at someones expense. Dont take him serious I dont think he means any harm he is just trying to have some fun.

I remember yeas ago Lowes had the sweat-est supply of hardware. They had everything. Now they dont have jack when it comes to hardware. What they do have is way over priced.

If bob could discern the difference between having fun, and being rude and obnoxious, he'd be funny as hell. Most would love to read his posts. But he isn't savvy enough to know the difference. He then tosses in an apology to lighten things up, and soon after, he starts blasting again.

Too bad really. He's a pathological jerk, and he should be muzzled. Yes, I understand free speech. But it must be served with responsibility. Sadly bob is clueless. For every 1 decent contribution ( which is few and far in between) he blows it with insults and tasteless posts. He slams this thread, says he won't post here ( this thread ) but totally can't suppress the ass monkey in him fighting to get out, and begins to cause disharmony again.

So apologize for him if you feel you must. But I know him and his ilk.

Did some more work tonight. I've been turning down the OT. Money isn't everything. So, decided to repair the damaged fuse. I glued the balsa where it broke when the plane first arrived. But I decided to do it right. Tomorrow, I'll cut out the bad pieces and replace.

I cut the holes for the mufflers, and the manual choke. One of the mufflers has you going through the exhaust stack to install the bolt. The stacks are very long. Probably stick out farther because I had to turn the mufflers around as they were hitting the firewall. Can the stacks be cut without any adverse effects? Maybe two inches? What do you guys think? I attached extra pics to show the length. Lastly, I included a pic of the spacers used with the DL111. If you go with this engine, you wont need much.

Man this plane is beautiful!
