Default Bud Nosen Cessna 310

Hello everybody!
New here to the forum, but been at this rc thing for the last 20 yrs or so. Anyway, a few years ago I purchased a used Bud Nosen Cessna 310. This plane had been crashed several times and rebuilt, in a less than expert manner. It has gone through at least 4 owners, at least two powerplant changes, built with mechanical retracts, then converted to fixed gear, the control placement has been moved to shorter pushrods and tail mounted elevator servos, and the landing gear is stripped for many of it's setscrews and attachment points. It also has a fair degree of hanger rash. The cowlings are pretty much useless, they might be salvageable, but more than likely I will be building new ones.
Anyway's, I think I will chronicle the rebuild process here. I have managed to procure the original powerplants, two OS max 80's, rear rotary induction. I also have the converted weedeaters that are the current powerplants on this thing.
To date, I have cleaned up the carbs, which was a real chore, because the original owner of these converted them himself, and decided to put some kind of putty in the high speed jets, and some of the other fuel paths in the carbs. Then he said that the engines were "bad". Some peoples kids. Anyway, the engines are running, need some tweaking, but they will be fine. The landing gear is the next step. Yesterday, I managed to get one of the main gears fixed up, had to drill out and retap some of the setscrews, and tighten everything up, but now it's good and solid. The other side is stripped out really badly, so it's getting the nod for some JB weld to hold the axle receiver to the "wire" gear leg. That should be done tonight, then I'll start in on the nosegear, which will probably need to be fabricated, the design of it just sucks.
Pictures are coming! It's an awesome plane, 10' wingspan, about 40 lbs all up weight, the fuse is big enough to put your head in.

Welcome and good luck on the re-build! Some planes just deserve to live on past their useful life and this one sounds legendary! Should your Nosen belch fire and head for the ground one last time, you can always check with Hodges Hobbies in Georgia for their new twin that is an ARF and a take-off that looks 310-ish. With that said, you've got an original AND a back-up plan!
