Windy in Amarillo?
Nah! You must be ready for some of that "Bigger in Texas" stuff we exude down here: 1. Windy? That ain't windy till that tree over yonder is parrallel to the ground, son! Until then it's just a Texas breeze! 2. You call that a smoke system, boy?? Hell, I thought you was just running rich!! 3. That ain't a low pass, bud...... Joe Bob is doin' low passes over there! See! You can barely see his wheels goin' by when he does a low inverted pass through the plowed furrows out there in the field! 4. What gas/oil ratio am I using? I really don't know...... I just capped that oilwell out back of my house this morning so I have no idea! 5. No, it started out as a straight wing design but with all that speed coupled with the south end barb wire fence, it turned into a swept wing design last weekend! 6. Daddy always said to THINK big....... After I fly this here airplane today, I THINK I'm gonna head on into town and get me a big 'ol plate of Tex-Mex! 7. Yeah, it needed some speed brakes on this here sailplane of mine....... I installed these bull horns on the front end and it slows down REAL nice now! I'm sure there's more of that blow-hard Texas humor floating around here somewhere but I'll save it for later! LOL! Ya'll have a nice flight and come on back real soon! ![]() ![]() WT in Texas |

(Lat=35.029908°N Long=102.026215°W) The Buffalo field does have some distractions; planes(full-scale), trains and power-lines, but the guys that fly there regular don't seem to have much trouble. The club rents several of the T-hangers and then rents space to members, so most keep their planes there. The ARKS field is wide-open, but quit aways out-of-town with no electricity or water. Both are good clubs. We also have an indoor club, South Plains Electric Flyers (SPEF), that flys about 5-6 weekends a year in Plainview. Just had one last weekend, next one is in September.
