I've been flying profiles almost exclusively for the last 5 years or so and am addicted to the way they fly. Anyone who has flown them know what I'm talking about.
I recently picked up a 50CC bird (SD Yak) that I thought I might like to start getting into IMAC with, but as little as I get out to the field, I just want to go have fun, not practice! Although the Yak flies great, I'm not having near as much fun with it as I do my flat planes. So, my question is this: Is there any 50CC size bird out there that can fly like a profile? I know some have put gassers on the big OMP Edge and Yak. I even have an old unbuilt Edge ARF, but there are a lot of mods that need to be made to enable it to accept a gas engine. Any suggestions? |

Dawg House RC YAK 55 sp it flies just like a profile yoo can flip and flop that thing all day long and it just keeps asking for more punishment and its an easy flying plane that will do whatever you can and more there are no limits to what it can do. The guy above me owned it before i did ask him im sure he will agree its an awesome plane

There's an ARF called the Talon that is designed for 50cc gassers. I just about got one awhile back. I had a G-38 mounted on a Aeroworks 80" profile & it was a blast. Even though the motor was really heavy & underpowered during the hot/humid summers... it was a blast & I flew it a lot. The Talon should fit the bill. I think the company is called Golden Eagle.

You are not going to get there with an arf.. The closest would be an OMP profile or an aeroworks profile with some mods. The only gas airplane I have ever flown that TRULY flew like a great foamie was Bob Sawyers 40% carden extra at 26lbs.. I have flown a bunch of gas planes that guys claim fly like a foamy- however, from my point of view they must be flying crappy foamies as a refrence point.

One of the guys in our club just started flying a reactor with a BME 50 on it- looks like it flies ok but it appears to me that the gear is not high enough for it to rotate on takeoff. He as torn the tailwheel off a couple of times due to it needing a bunch of speed to lift off of the grass.

Thanks for the ideas, guys. I don't mind building, but OMP shows the hybrid is out of stock. I may contact tham and see if they expect any more.
The Reactor looks pretty nice, and Sleepy's review made it sound good. 1600sq. in. and under 15lbs sounds like it would give me the kind of performance I'd like to have. I will also take another look at the Dawghouse Yak. |

I just won a Talon 3D ARF in a raffle my local club held. I'm trying to get opinions on whether to go electric (which is all I fly now) or gas. Depending on the answers I get, I'll either build it and let you know how it flies, or I'll sell it (maybe even give it back to the club to raffle off again and make some more money for the guys).
It looks good in the box - pretty narrow fuselage with front fins - and if you go to the company's website (others have sent it to you in replies), there are videos of the plane in flight. I'm brand new to giants so if you have any comments I would appreciate them. Good luck! |
