Default Ritewing

not really a build thread. tons of build threads out there along with a build dvd. im considering this my milestone and accomplishment more then a build thread]
doing a TL-50 and a demon lite. first one im doing is tl 50

kit comes with the cores, wing beds for fiberglassing, 3 carbon fiber spars, electronic lid material. sfg, motor mount and heat sink
componants i have acquired:

28-47-2 inrunner motor
100 a esc
bec
dubro lazer push rod kit
generic control horns
hs-5485 servos
4s 2650 20c (2 in parallel)
apc 6x4 sport props
these pics show my drawing initial lay out, cutting, componant initial lay out and my sinking of the servos and control linkages into the wing cores
target goals: 40-50 ounce 120-130 mph, learn the build on the tl 50 then make a 160 mph demon monster
right now the sunk servos are resting over night to cure, then trimmed down flush to the airfoil then make the lids then start fiberglassing

I know them pretty well. They come out to the field every year for a few weeks when SEFF comes around. Got to fly that same exact plane they were testing the speed runs. The plane flies very well and is super fast. Got to keep your eye on it though. It really moves. Both of them are extremely nice and have a wealth of knowledge about their planes.

looking good. I have a pair of Chris's TL-40 cores in the garage, time permitting I'll build one 4S/HET 4W, and the other 6S/Mega 16/25/3

I used his "Henry's" method on my 36" E-Zipper, messy - but works well!

just some update and progress reports on my experience
have lost it twice. not a glitch but just plain spacial displacement
red bottom blue top. did a split s with some crappy cloud cover and "oh crap" chop the throttle and pray till i found it. second time i did the check the timer and zip right on by faster then i realized.

nevada heat is taking it's toll 100+ degrees by 8 am. experiencing esc heat up.
on my zippy 4s2650 i have sagged the voltage so i just take it up glide it down rinse and repeat and stretch it out to a 10 min flight. no heat issues there
with my hype 2s4000 x 2 i can get 3 good split s high speeds in before heat becomes an issue.
ive fashioned an air scoop out of a plastic spoon along with two pedastools to raise the esc up off the floor. im hoping this will cause a much better air flow around the esc.
