Fly higher, slower and get used to how the plane reacts, also use expo. In time you will be flying on higher rates all the time because you will be used to the responsiveness and won't want to fly on lower rates any more.
I have been flying a 50cc plane for the past few months with huge throws and piped, recently I took out one of my larger planes and it seemed very sluggish in all respects even on 3D rates. |

Do you have a sim?? they can be a great help to figure things out without risk of crashing. I had to teach myself on a sim and taking what I learned to the field. I would watch videos of the "pros" and it would make me sick. There is no substitute for practice, whether on a sim or in real life. If I were learning over again I would start up high and bring throttle down to a idle until stall and start adding up elevator, this with 3D rates will get you into a "elevator" if you come on the power a little it will give you forward movement, you may need less elevator than you think for a nice harrier. I would try what I said upright then once comfortable try it inverted, use the rudder to steer so you get comfortable with rudder also. It takes practice, just ask all the guys at my field who were probably saying "why does he keep doing that over and over" while I was learning!
Stick with it, Wes |

U gotta use throttle to manage "alpha" and airspeed. From what I've found, the "sweet spot" is not full elevator, and varies slightly to manage wing rock.
