Default GOT SMOKE?

Saito 150 with a pitts smoke muffler and a Sullivan Sky writer pump on a Great Planes Super Stearman. I have a JR 9303 with the pump on the gear switch mixed into the side slide lever to adjust the speed of the pump. Problem is I get little smoke in the air at any pump speed. On the ground with a lower idle setting on the Saito and the pump on I get more smoke but of course the plane is standing still. What should I try next? I am using standard smoke oil. Am I expecting too much from a nitro engine to get hot enough to produce a lot of smoke? This is my first smoker!
Today I flew in a nice blue sky so I was expecting more of a show.

First question.

Are you getting alot of oil residue on the bottom of the plane? If not then something else is restricting the flow which may be the cause of little smoke.

If you do have lots of residue on the bottom of the plane then You can try wrapping brass tubing around the muffler then into the inlet to preheat the oil first . Once you get it dialed in you should have little residue on the bottom of the plane as well.
