Default Crushed...

It hasn't been my day...

I've been waiting on an Aviation Models 35% Yak in the Chief Aircraft scheme for over 2 months... The red, white and black version... I've got all the goodies to get 'er dun when it arrives...

Today was the day... I got a call from the trucking company that they would deliver it to my home this afternoon... When the truck arrived, I went out to help the driver unload the crate... Before I even climbed up in the truck, I saw that the crate had been crushed... They had placed the crate in the front of the truck, then whoever was driving the tow motor, drove another pallet all the way through the crate with the Yak... Total loss...

Amazing how a crate can make it all the way from China intact, then get crushed in the last 15 miles...

I called Chief and put my name on another one before they sell out... Now I gotta wait for the claim with the trucking company to get filed...

We pulled it out of the crate to see how bad it was and well, it was toast... Broke my heart cause it was really hot looking...

Hurry up and wait some more...

Anyway, all the kings horse and all the kings men couldn't put that Yak back together again... Crushed like an eggshell...

Curious why they would have to wait for a shipping claim. Shouldn't Chief just send out another one and deal with the claim on the backend?

Depends upon who you talk with there. I had a similar problem with a H9 Extra 260 that the UPS clowns had obviously used for a tackling dummy. But the severe damage was not as evident; I let the driver get away before I found it.

What followed was an aggravating couple of weeks, trying to get UPS out to pick the thing up and get a replacement from Chief . At first, they insisted that they would have to have the damaged one back first. I became progressively more annoyed; my order had totalled close to a grand and the only usable part of it was the OS 1.60. I finally got a lady who handles most of their customer service stuff, and she agreed to replace the order, minus the engine, at once. By this time, UPS had picked up the trash.

"At once" ended up being two weeks; a week after the initial delivery, for a total of three weeks. And then they sent the wrong spinner. I eventually got everything I paid for, in good condition, but it took a month.

I dunno whether it was a communicatrion snafu on their part, or they were genuinely trying to dodge the bullet. Doesn't matter. I won't order again from them unless I absolutely have NO alternative. Never say never; but, screw me once, shame on you... screw me twice, shame on me.

I went thru the same thing with Chief. I bought a 33% Extra from them and the wings came crushed.Called up Chief and then e-mailed pictures of the boxes and the Fed-Ex delivery boy holding them.As soon as I opened the boxes I noticed the the ribs cracked in the wings.Took several pictures and e-mailed them to Chief. Then I got a phone call two days later asking why I do not just fix them.I told the guy that I bought new and wanted new undamaged wings. He then replied that I had no way of proving that shipping had caused the damage.I had to remind him that in the pictures I had sent him
The Fed-Ex driver was holding the box before they were even opened and he could see all the damage in the pictures. After a week of bickering back and forth a lady called and said she would send out a new set of wings only.
Man I really do not know how they stay in business.Free shipping and I am always hearing someone getting something damaged from them.

Guys.....simple it's not Chief's fault...it's the shipper. If home when the thing arrives perhaps a quick box tear down with your digi handy in the driveway or foyer with the driver still there is the way to go. Damage can be immediately established.

WOW I had the same problem with Chief I orderd a 35% YAK Russian Scheme. The crate came crushed on one side and damaged the fuse. Chief said they would take care of it, waiting to see what happens.

Just got off the phone with Chief...

To start, this all began last Friday when the fookin' truck delivered the crate which was crushed... I refused delivery of the shipment, so the trucking company was to file a claim, then contact Chief... I didn't want to get stuck in the middle of this mess since it's between Chief & the freight company...

I immediately called Chief and told them the story, gave them the Bill of Laden number, the freight exception number, etc... I spoke with the office manager (female), the manager for the RC side of the business and the salesperson from whom I purchased the airframe... This was just this past Friday... The RC manager told me that they had 3 - 4 more of these in the warehouse... I told him IN NO UNSPECIFIC TERMS, to hold one for me until this mess can be cleared up... I even told him that I was willing to place a deposit on the airframe until we got the claim squared away...

Today, Tuesday, not 5 minutes ago, I receive a call from the office manager wanting more information... I politely provided what information I had, but since I refused delivery, there was little I could tell her... She then told me that they had NO MORE in stock... They sold all remaining airframes from Friday till Tuesday morning??? I think not... I asked to speak to the manager, but was told that he was not available to speak to me at this time and that he would call me back shortly...

I will reserve judgement on Chief's customer service until such time that they make this matter right... All I know is that after waiting over 2 months for this airframe to arrive, is that I'm more than a little dissappointed... This is my first time dealing with Chief, so this experience will dictate whether I do business with them in the future...

I'll keep y'all posted...

I asked to speak to the manager too; he never was available. So he's either gutless or doesn't give a crap.

Matus777, perhaps you didn't read the entire posts. Yes the shipper damaged the goods. But Chief SOLD us the stuff and is responsible for getting undamaged product in our hands.

They wanted you to fix it, eh? What a laugh...
