DJ,
You've just about given all the parameters you need to have to set your charger. Are the cells Nickle Metal Hydride or Nicad? Set the type of cells, (nickle metal or nicad) number of cells (8) and the charge rate to 130. (You could also set the rate lower to about 70-80 miliamps to charge at a slower charge rate.) That ought to get you going..... Don't forget to get the polarity set correctly to the charge jack. (+=RED -= BLACK) Don't get them backward or you will be introduced to the wonderful world of electrical meltdown of the wires! Let us know how you come out.

How safe for the battery is it to fast charge a Nickle Metal Hydride pack?
I have always charged mine @ a max of 250 mah for a 2500mah pack, 150mah for a 1500mah pack and so on.
Some times I will keep my planes on charge @ 10mah for a day or two after the higher rate charge till I go flying..
I have never tried fast charging them at the field.

If a nimh is getting warm it's being charged too fast. Get one hot and you'll destroy it. Fast charging a nimh is never a good idea. 1c or less is about right.

Thanx a bunch for your reply WT....actually i have the old triton and not the triton 2.it somehow isnt giving me the option to select the number of cells and also when i try to fast charge my tx battery(1300 mah 8cell) on 1.0 A setting the battery got really hot after a while.I was charging it through the wire which has bananas to be hooked onto the charger on one end and a single wall charger type pin on the other, which went straight into my tx and not to the battery.on the manual triton says to fast charge 1300mah nmh AA batts at 2.6A butt if its getting so hot at 1.0A then I dunno wht to do.

I've been charging with a Triton since about 2004. Rarely use a wall charger except to charge when the battery pack is new...This is for NiMH and NiCd that I charge for Tx, Rx, Kavan Starter, Radio South Ni-Starter battery packs...

I charge at 1C and don't exceed it as a rule. I have planes with the same Rx battery for a two to three years and cycling them to verify they hold rated capacity...

You may want to get the temp sensor for it. It comes in handy...
